摘要： A multi-filament light bulb or other electrical energy conducting article so arranged that the filaments can be individually energized by movement of a selector mounted on the base sleeve of the article for movement generally circumferentially thereof. When one of the filaments burns out, or a different wattage is desired for the bulb, the selector can be moved to couple another filament in circuit, and the bulb or other electrical conducting article need not be thrown away, thereby extending its period of usefulness. The arrangement is such that the selector can be mounted on the base without interferring with the conventional light fixture socket, including the conventional three-way socket.

摘要： A safety lightbulb includes a base, a glass envelope connected to the base, and electrical contacts extending from the base into the glass envelope and electrically connected to a filament for producing light in the glass envelope when current is supplied to the electrical contacts from a power source to which the base is connected. A safety arrangement in the base automatically electrically disconnects the electrical contacts from the power source when the glass envelope is broken, and includes an electrical contact member in the base and a moving/restraining arrangement in the base for moving the electrical contact members out of electrical contact with the power source and the electrical contacts, when the glass envelope is broken.

The ceramic heat sink monolith 24 includes a block 38 and an array of spaced apart posts 40 projecting outwardly from the block 38. The block 38 includes a cavity 42 that has a recessed inner surface 44 shaped to mate with the pinch seal end 34 of the lamp 22 and an opening that allows the electrical connectors 30 of the halogen lamp 22 to pass through.

摘要： An incandescent bulb for use in a submerged swimming pool light fixture is disclosed, which includes a filament, at least one spring-biased filament support, and a grounding device. The filament support includes an exposed current-conducting portion and is moveable in response to the spring bias. The current-conducting portion of the filament support is arranged to allow it to come into electrical contact with the grounding device when the filament support moves in response to the bias of the spring. The filament is disposed to prevent movement of the filament support when the filament is intact and the lamp is in normal operating condition. When the filament is broken or is otherwise caused to release the filament support arms, the arms are free to move in response to the spring bias, causing the current-conducting portion of the arm to contact the grounding device, thereby providing a direct connection to ground for the incoming electrical current, and preventing escape of the current into the adjacent pool water.

摘要： The electric lamp for series arrangement comprises at least one current-supply wire of nickel wire, copper wire or copper cladded wire. A shortcircuit switch is provided, which consists of a vitreous mass, in which copper powder is dispersed and which is fused with the current-supply wires, and of an oxide skin, which is present on the said current-supply wire at the sealing-in area in the mass. The vitreous mass is electrically conducting. An electrical connection between the current-supply wires is not obtained, however, until the filament burns through and the oxide skin breaks down due to the overvoltage then occurring.
