    摘要: A connecting device for sealingly connecting together a pair of modular compressed air conditioning units, for example a filter and a lubricator, comprises a generally rectangular clamp adapted to engage a pair of ported flanges formed respectively on the units to be connected so as to urge the units into fluid-tight communication with one another via an intermediate ported spacer retaining O-ring seals. One side of the rectangular clamp is pivotally mounted so that it can be pivoted out of its operative position to permit reception of the flanges into the clamp and then pivoted back into its operative position in which it can be releasably locked by tightening a bolt. The device may be unitary in nature, i.e. has no separate parts that might otherwise get lost, and is simple to manufacture and manipulate.

    摘要: An apparatus for and method of installing angle plates at the corners of ducts which has at the opposite ends of each panel of the duct channel shaped flanges into which is installed an angle plate with the angle plates being utilized to secure adjacent ducts together utilizing fasteners. The angle plates are configurated so as to be automatically fed by way of a supply hopper and associated machinery is constructed whereby a lowermost angle plate in a stack is automatically fed into position overlying duct channel flanges after the duct has been clamped in place followed by the forcing of the angle plate into the duct channel flanges and the securement of the angle plate in place. There is a notch in each corner of the duct between adjacent channel flanges and the angle plate is initially positioned with a corner portion thereof tilted downwardly into the notch, after which the angle plate is pressed into the two channel flanges. The machine may place two angle flanges into two corners of one end of the duct and, further, there may be two sets of machinery so as to simultaneously place angle plates into the channel flanges at both the bottom and top of a duct. Finally, the duct may come with two portions joined by a seam which is automatically locked together at the time of the placement of the angle plates.

    摘要: A duct joining system having two L-shaped connectors for each duct corner. Each connector has two substantially perpendicular legs forming a corner region and has an inside and an outside surface with the outside surface of one L-shaped connector abutting the outside surface of the other L-shaped connector when the ducts are joined. An irregularly shaped opening is formed in the corner region of each L-shaped connector in alignment with the opening in the abutting connector. A tab having an enlarged head and a stem is integrally formed with and extends inwardly from the peripheral edge of each of the openings. A score line is formed at the base of the stem of each tab on the outside surface of the connector to allow the tab to be bent outwardly about the score line so that the tab can be inserted through the opening in the abutting L-shaped connector and than bent over to lock the connectors together.

A score line is formed at the base of each cleat on the outside surface of the connector to allow the cleat to be bent outwardly about the score line so as to extend through, and over the peripheral edge of, the orifice in the abutting L-shaped connector to lock the connectors together.

    摘要: An improved duct is proposed which comprises a plurality of duct sections coupled together. Each duct section has a turned-up portion and a flange at one end and a flange at the other end. Both the turned-up portion and the flanges are formed by bending the edge of each duct section. The turned-up portion of one tubular body is inserted into the not-turned-up end of an adjacent tubular body. Bolt holes provided in each section are adapted to align with each other by themselves. Also, the inner edge the packing disposed between the flanges is covered up by the turned-up portion.

    摘要: A joint assembly for connecting the ends of a pair of generally rectangular sheet metal duct sections includes a pair of frame members secured to each other and connected to the respective duct end sections. The frame members each include four flange portions. Each flange portion has an upstanding channel shaped leg portion and an angularly extending duct receiving leg portion. A corner piece connects adjacent flange portions and extends into the channel portions of the upstanding leg portions to form the generally rectangular frame. The end portions of the ducts are inserted into longitudinal openings of the duct receiving leg portions. A flowing type gasket material is positioned in a longitudinal pocket of each flange. The end of each duct wall partially displaces the gasket material so that the gasket material extrudes outwardly around the duct wall and between the ends of the flange portion and the corner piece. The surface of the corner piece flange portion is displaced from the front vertical wall of the upstanding channel shaped leg portion so that the edge of the duct extends beyond the flange portion and penetrates an outside gasket member positioned on the upstanding channel shaped leg portion and the corner piece. This provides an effective seal to prevent air within the duct from flowing around the end of the duct and between the outer surface of the duct and the surface of the flange portion of the corner piece.

    摘要: A duct jointing system is provided which includes a plurality of elongate frame members, each being a single piece of sheet metal folded to define a particular section. The section includes an open channel to receive an edge portion of the sheet metal duct, the channel having a base, a first web extending generally perpendicularly to said channel from a location adjacent the base, an outer portion at the end of the first web remote from the channel, the outer portion extending in the same general direction as the channel, and a second web extending obliquely toward the channel from a location adjacent the remote end of the first web. The single piece of sheet metal has an expanded portion constituting substantially the whole of the second web. A plurality of corner pieces are provided, each having two ends angled to each other, each end being insertable endwise into one end of one of the elongate frame members, and means are provided for securing together adjacent frame members on opposing duct ends.

    摘要: A plurality of flange portions are positioned oppositely of one another on the ends of a pair of generally rectangular sheet metal ducts. The flange portions are positioned in pairs on the adjacent ends of the ducts and each flange portion includes an upstanding wall having a pair of end portions for receiving the right angle legs of corner pieces. Four corner pieces extend into abutting relation with the upstanding walls at the four corners of the end of each duct to form a frame around the duct end portion. Each corner piece has a corner section, and a pair of legs extend angularly from the corner section. The pair of legs extend into abutting relation with the upstanding walls of adjacent flange portions on each duct end portion. In the assembled joint, the frames around the duct end portions are oppositely positioned with a gasket member positioned between the flange upstanding walls and the surfaces of abutting corner pieces. Each corner piece includes a corner and an outer edge with a corner flange. A channel-shaped clamp is forcibly slidable on the corner flanges of adjacent corner pieces to a position closely adjacent the flange upstanding walls on the duct end portions. Each clamp connects and compresses together adjacent corner pieces to exert a sealing force upon the gasket member to form an air tight seal around the assembled duct end portions.
