    摘要: For maxillary molar distalization a newly developed maxillary molar distalization appliance is introduced. Maxillary first molars and first premolars were banded. On the palatal side of the Class II first molar bands 0.45 inch diameter tubes were soldered. First premolar band were attached with 1.1 mm in diameter s.s. retaining wires to a wide acrylic Nance button. The acrylic button also included an anterior bit plane. The purpose of creating an anterior bit plane was to disocclude the posterior teeth, enhance the molar distalization and correct the anterior deep bit. On the palatal side of molars 0.9 mm in diameter s.s. wires were embedded into the acrylic about 5 mm apical to the gingival margin of the first molars, which passed through the tube and oriented parallel to the occlusal plane. This force system would allow applying consistent force at the level of center of resistance of the first molars.

Such appliances may be challenged by traditional tooth movements which intrude the crown of the tooth or present tooth positions which reduce available points of purchase. These challenges may be overcome with a series of tooth movements in which a tooth is translated in a “root-first” position. The movements may take advantage of the inherent characteristics of elastic repositioning appliances in translating a tooth from a first position to a desired position along a gingival plane.

    摘要: A new a telescoping assembly or advancing sheath and a expansion complex are provided for a maxillary or mandibular arch expander. The advancing sheath is provided with a spring which extends between a forward end of the anterior tube and a forward end of the posterior tube. The spring urges the anterior tube rearwardly relative to the posterior tube to compensate for jaw pressure and to help prevent the jaw pressure from threading the anterior tube rearwardly. The expansion complex includes an outer housing and an advancing member which is telescopically received in the outer housing. The two portions of the expansion complex are received in opposed halves of a plate which fits against the mandibular or maxillary arch. An threaded rod and a parallel post extend through the housing. An activation nut is received on the threaded rod, and an activation plate is journaled about both the rod and the post. The activation plate is moved by movement of the activation nut. A spring is journaled about the post between the forward end of the advancing member and the activation plate. The nut is accessible through a channel in the top surface of the housing and advancing member.

    摘要: The current invention provides a device for holding dental abutments such as healing caps, healing screws, contoured healing abutments, PME (precision margin esthetics) abutments, PME impression pins, hexed transfer assemblies, straight and angled fixed system components, hexed coping screws or any dental implant parts when the object is being inserted or otherwise located into a patient's mouth. The device is tweezer-like and is designed to hold a dental abutment having a central axis. The device includes a pair of substantially identical members that are joined together at one of the ends and each have a free end. The members are disposed in the V-like configuration with the joined ends interconnected and the free end spaced apart so that when the members are squeezed towards one another, the free ends are brought into contact. Each of the members has a handle portion including the joined end, and an offset gripping portion. The gripping portion of each member has a junction segment which is joined to the handle portion and forms an interior angle in the range of 70-110 degrees with the handle portion. The gripping portion also has a grip segment with a first end joined to the junction segment and a second end configured to grip the dental abutment through cooperative action with the second end of the grip segment of the other member. When gripped, the dental abutment is retained at angle in the range of 60-90 degrees to the handle portion.
