    摘要: A sonic transmitter assembly for use in logging-while-drilling includes stacks of piezoelectric crystals that extend outwardly from a nodal plate member, and a generally tubular assembly that contains such stacks and has end portions that are sealingly mounted in diametrically opposed holes in a pipe member that forms a pan of the drill string. Spring mass isolator systems are employed to inhibit transmission of acoustic waves to the pipe member. Balanced mounting forces and the bilateral symmetry of the construction also inhibit transmission of acoustic waves to the pipe member, particularly waves which are asymmetric with respect to the longitudinal axis of the pipe member.

The apparatus includes a drill collar for supporting a drill bit, a transversely mounted transmitter situated in a first horizontal plane in the drill collar which transmits acoustic energy into an earth formation. The drill collar also houses at least one receiver mounted in a second horizontal plane in the drill collar at an angular displacement from the transmitter such that the effects of a quadrupole component of the acoustic energy detected by the receiver are rendered insignificant.

    摘要: Apparatus for attenuating Stoneley waves propagating in a borehole along a given direction, the borehole containing a fluid in which at least one seismic transducer is immersed. According to the invention, the apparatus comprises pressure transmission means firstly for placing in a region of the borehole where the hydrostatic pressure is not less than the hydrostatic pressure at the level of the seismic transducer, and secondly for transmitting pressure to at least one flexible hose containing a gas, the hose being disposed upstream from the seismic transducer relative to the propagation direction of the Stoneley waves. The apparatus is applicable to geological exploration by performing a seismic survey in a borehole.

    摘要: A seismic array system for receiving seismic signals at spaced-apart points in a wellbore is deployable on coiled tubing from the surface through an isolator apparatus mounted on the wellhead. The array includes spaced-apart geophone sondes which have hydraulic actuators for extension of sonde support pads into engagement with the wellbore wall. Each sonde has a hydraulic control unit for controlling operation of the hydraulic actuator to extend or retract the pads and for preliminary processing of signals received through the geophones of each sonde. Hydraulic fluid and electrical control signals are communicated through the coiled tubing from the surface. A signal processing unit is deployed at the upper end of the array string for final or intermediate processing of the geophoen signals from each sonde.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for the measuring the transverse dimensions of a hole such as in an oil well including a sonde on which an electro-acoustic transducer is mounted in an off centered position in relation to the axis of the sonde. This transducer has two opposite active faces so as to simultaneously transmit acoustic pulses in diametrically opposite directions from the sonde. When the sonde is centered in the hole, the transducer picks up the echoes retransmitted by the wall of the hole in the two directions, at different times. A recording is made of these times and preferably also of an indication of the amplitude of each of these echoes to obtain both a diameter measurement and an indication of the condition of the hole surface. Several transducers are provided, superposed and oriented along various diameters distributed around the axis of the sonde.
