Abstract:
A shotgun shell tracer includes a base wall, an obturator, and an edge wall extending from the base wall opposite to the obturator. A chamber support may be engaged to the base wall extending from the base wall within the internal space of the tracer. The shotgun shell tracer may additionally include a tracer insert which may encircle the chamber support. Discharge of a shotgun shell in some embodiments will exert pressure on projectiles which fuse the tracer insert to the base wall and the chamber support, and embed the projectiles into the tracer insert, establishing ballast for the shotgun shell tracer. The chamber support in one embodiment may be a modified spike. The ballast in one embodiment may be a washer replacing embedded projectiles. A conveyor may be used to transport tracer carriers during manufacture of a tracer.
Abstract:
A tracking system and associated methods for locating animals, such as wounded/downed game animals or non-game animals such as research animals, and/or projectiles configured to be shot at an animal are disclosed. The system includes a transmitter and one or more radio frequency reflectors that are coupled to a projectile. After the projectile is shot, a user utilizes the transmitter to locate the reflector. In some cases, the reflector is integrally coupled to the projectile to allow the user to locate the projectile. In other cases, the reflector is selectively coupled to the projectile so as to be removed from the projectile and attached to the animal when the projectile hits the animal. In such cases, the user may use the transmitter to locate the animal. In still other cases, at least one reflector is integrally coupled to the projectile while another is selectively coupled to the projectile. Accordingly, the user can locate the projectile and the animal.
Abstract:
A body which can be axially incorporated at an artillery shell comprises a functional or operational element constructed as a radar reflector. A sleeve element is arranged at such functional element. This sleeve element is rotationally symmetrical about a lengthwise axis and is intended to be attached to the artillery shell. The functional element and the sleeve element are constructed as one piece or integrally. At the inside surface of the sleeve element there are formed in a turnably symmetrical or rotationally symmetrical manner beads, fins or claws or the like. The inner surface of the sleeve element is provided with an adhesive layer formed, for instance, of corundum powder contained in a synthetic resin. At the outside surface of the sleeve element there is arranged a fuse cord, the detonation of which produces a form-locking or positive connection of the sleeve element with the ordnance projectile or shell.
Abstract:
An ammunition tracer system having a retro-reflective trailing edge on all projectiles and a laser illuminator bore-sighted with the weapon sighting and viewing equipment. At the sighted target, the reflective trailing edge of the projectile reflects the laser rendering the projectile visible in the viewing equipment.
Abstract:
Systems, devices, and methods for determining a time of flight (TOF) of a first bullet fired from a gun to pass a target plane of a target; determining a location of an aimpoint on the target in an imager field of view (FOV) relative to a disturbed reticle at a time the first bullet is fired by the gun; determining a location of the first bullet relative to the location of the aimpoint on the target at the TOF in the imager FOV; and determining an updated location of the disturbed reticle based on a difference between the location of the first bullet and the location of the aimpoint on the target at the time the first bullet crosses the target plane and a difference between the location of the disturbed reticle and the location of the aimpoint on the target at the time the first bullet was fired.
Abstract:
A projectile includes a component that is highly reflective and configured to reveal the projectile's trajectory when the projectile is fired from a gun and electromagnetic radiation is directed toward the projectile. With the reflective component, one can more easily limit the visibility of the projectile to areas from where the projectile was fired because the reflective component is passive, not active. As the projectile moves down range, the areas behind the projectile are typically where a shooter and/or spotter for the shooter are located, not where an enemy combatant is located. Thus, the trajectory of the projectile is revealed to the people who can use the information to adjust their fire, and remains hidden from the people who could use the information to locate the shooter.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a low observable photoluminescent tracer projectile, for use with a small caliber weapon at night—which method utilizes a base phosphor material of Ca, Sr and S, or a base phosphor material of Y2, O2, and S—with a combination of minor dopant ingredients; which base phosphor material is mixed with a clear binder to form a photoluminescent material which is applied to the rear end, or base, of a small arms projectile as a thin layer; to which thin layer is added a layer of small retro-reflectors—whereby, when this projectile is fired from the weapon, the photoluminescent mixture will be activated and will be observable, using night vision at an angle of 0 to about 20 degrees from the rear end of the projectile.
Abstract:
This is an inexpensive detector to prevent mass murders by guns, and illegal use of fire arms. Inexpensive antenna bands affixed to ammunition casings or to the barrel or other part of a fire arm activates a detector/sender which is generating specific radio frequencies, and which is also a beam-forming generator. The beam of a specific radio frequency is reflected back to the detector, mounted on a building, or carried by a law enforcer. When the reflected signal from the antenna bands reaches the detector, an output signal is produced in the detector, which is used to alert safety personnel or electronic alarms, that a gun is nearby. It also has several safety features in case the antenna bands are tampered with, or removed.
Abstract:
A bullet or slug for hunting a game animal is fitted with a capsule that contains an effective quantity of a blood trail enhancer. The latter is composed of fish oil and apple cider vinegar together with effective amounts of natural anti-coagulant agents, such as ginger, onion, and garlic. The fish oil and apple cider vinegar also serve as anti-coagulants. These agents including also are effective in promoting healing of a non-fatal wound in a game animal.
