Abstract: The present invention relates to a lock button assembly for installation on a threaded actuating member operatively connected to a vehicle door locking mechanism. The assembly has a manually engageable lock button having a longitudinally extending bore. The bore is configured to receive a threaded end portion of the actuating member. The lock button has an opening on one side thereof providing access to the bore. A clip member is mounted exteriorly to the lock button. The clip member has a resilient projection extending inwardly through the opening and into the bore for frictional engagement with the threaded portion. The projection is biased to permit ingress of the actuating member into the bore and to prevent egress of the actuating member from the bore. The present invention also relates to a method for installing a lock button assembly on a threaded actuating member operatively connected to a vehicle door locking mechanism.

Abstract: An electrically actuated power door lock actuator which provides simplicity, long term reliability, minimal mechanical complexity and solves the problem of back driving when the door lock mechanism is manually actuated. The power door lock actuator according to the present invention includes: a housing; a bi-directional electric motor; a threaded shaft drivingly connected with the drive shaft of the motor, the threaded shaft having a first end and an opposite second end; a drive armature threadingly engaged with the threaded shaft, wherein the drive armature has opposing first and second abutments; a toggle rotatably mounted to the housing, the toggle having bifurcated arms wherein a first arm has a third abutment for abutting the first abutment and a second arm has a fourth abutment for abutting the second abutment, the toggle further having a connector for connecting to a door lock mechanism; a first spring which biases the drive armature toward the second end of the threaded shaft; and a second spring which biases the drive armature toward the first end of the threaded shaft. When the motor is not operating the first and second springs cooperate to biasably locate the drive armature to a neutral position.

Abstract: A door locking system for child-safety door locking systems on an automobile door including a latch and a door lock mechanism. The door handle is incapable of unlatching the door when the locking mechanism locks the latch. The locking system includes a door panel having an opening for receiving the lock lever in a guard lock mode when moved to its locked position so that the lock lever is substantially recessed within the door panel. The lock lever and the door panel are constructed such that the lock lever cannot be accessed through the opening for manual movement back to its unlocked position. In the normal lock mode, the lock lever is not received within the opening in the door panel in the locked position so that it is accessible for manually moving the lock lever to the unlocked position. A key lock interconnects the lock lever and a lock rod for selectively actuating the locking mechanism. The key lock is disengageable from the lock rod via insertion of a key into the key lock to move the lock lever relative to the lock rod between the normal lock mode and the guard lock mode.

Abstract: A vehicle door latch assembly including a lock mechanism actuatable between a locked and unlocked condition and providing a double locking feature. The lock mechanism includes a first locking member adapted to selectively rotate about a first axis between locked and unlocked positions respectively corresponding to the locked and unlocked conditions of the latch mechanism. A second locking member is provided which is adapted to rotate about the first axis adjacent to the first locking member. The first and second locking members may be selectively coupled and uncoupled. When coupled, the second locking member may be selectively rotated about the first axis to move the first locking member between the locked and unlocked positions. When uncoupled, the first locking member is operable to move between the locked and unlocked positions independently of the second locking member. A control member is moveable axially to couple the first and second locking members. The control member is provided with a cam surface which cooperates with another cam surface on a gear to produce the axial movement of the control member required for coupling and uncoupling of the first and second locking members.
