Abstract:
A status indicator system for a vehicle door lock includes a housing defining a cavity therein. The system also includes a cable translatable along a horizontal axis between a first position wherein the lock has an unlocked status, and a second position wherein the lock has a locked status. Further, the system includes a clevis attached to the cable and translatable within the cavity along the horizontal axis as the cable translates between the first and second positions. The system includes an indicator button operatively connected to and translatable within the cavity along a vertical axis perpendicular to the horizontal axis between an unlocked position wherein the indicator button protrudes from the housing when the cable is disposed in the first position, and a locked position wherein the indicator button is recessed into the cavity when the cable is disposed in the second position.
Abstract:
A door for a vehicle having a body controller includes a vehicle interior-facing surface. The door locking system includes a latch mechanism configured to alternately attain a first state that locks and a second state that unlocks operation of the latch mechanism. The door locking system also includes a control switch on the interior-facing surface for generating a signal to alternatively select one of the first and second latch mechanism states. The door locking system additionally includes an indicator light integrally mounted on the control switch and configured to provide a visual signal indicative of the selected latch mechanism state. The controller is configured to receive the signal from the control switch, command the latch mechanism to attain one of the first and second states in response to the signal, and trigger the indicator light when the latch mechanism has attained one of the first and second states.
Abstract:
A vehicle door and a vehicle door latch assembly is disclosed. The vehicle door includes a door outer panel; a door inner panel affixed to the door outer panel and defining a door wet cavity, with the door inner panel including an access hole; and a door trim panel mounted to the door inner panel and defining a door dry cavity. A door latch is located in the door wet cavity; a latch locking lever is exposed to the door dry cavity and shielded from the door wet cavity, with the latch locking lever engaging the door latch; and a lock rod has a first end attached to the latch locking lever, with the lock rod extending through the access hole and between the door inner panel and the door trim panel, whereby the lock rod is not exposed to the door wet cavity.
Abstract:
A lock indicator arm for a door having a latch mechanism includes a rod portion connectable on a first end to the latch mechanism, and a knob portion located on a second end of the rod portion opposite the first end and formed as a one-piece structure with the rod portion. The rod portion may include a spring region configured to bias the rod portion against either an interior panel, an exterior panel, or both panels. The knob portion and the rod portion of the lock indicator arm may be formed from a matrix material and a filler material. The filler material may include a plurality of fibers, and the plurality of fibers may be oriented substantially longitudinally along the rod portion. The rod portion of the lock indicator arm may have one of an H-shape cross section and a W-shape cross section.
Abstract:
A locking rod flange and a vertical locking rod for a vehicle door, and method of assembling a vehicle door. The locking rod flange may be integral with a glass run channel or an integrated channel and regulator, and may include a locking rod carrier with a rod pass through hole through which the vertical locking rod extends. A rod pass through seal may be mounted on the locking rod carrier, and the locking rod carrier may include a bridge portion over which a water deflector seal is applied.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle door and to a motor vehicle door lock and a method for mounting the motor vehicle door lock in a motor vehicle door, the motor vehicle door lock having an inside locking lever, and when installed, being located in a hollow space of the door and coupled to an inside safety element via a connecting rod that extends through a passage opening in an inside wall segment of the door body. To facilitate installation, the connecting rod is formed of two segments, a lower connecting rod segment extending through the passage opening and being connected to a an upper connecting rod segment at a location that is outside of the hollow space in proximity to the passage opening.
Abstract:
A locking rod flange and a vertical locking rod for a vehicle door, and method of assembling a vehicle door, are disclosed. The locking rod flange may be integral with a glass run channel or an integrated channel/regulator, and may include a locking rod carrier with a rod pass through hole through which the vertical locking rod extends. A rod pass through seal may be mounted on the locking rod carrier, and the locking rod carrier may include a bridge portion over which a water deflector seal is applied.
Abstract:
A connector for joining a plastic, elongated component and a threaded rod insertable into a borehole of the elongated component, which in turn is guided within a stationary bush, includes a locking element for locking the threaded rod in the borehole. The elongated component has a slot between the borehole and its outer surface. The locking element includes a two-arm lever configured within the slot and has a first end which has an engagement portion that can engage in locking manner the thread of the threaded rod, and a second end projecting outward beyond the slot when the engagement portion engages the thread. The lever's first end is prestressed toward the borehole and the lever is dimensioned in a manner that the second end pivots into the slot as the component is being pushed into the bush, as a result of which the engagement portion leaves the borehole, whereas the lever pivots back when the component has been slipped so far into the bush that the second lever end is released from the bush.
Abstract:
An lock actuator assembly for a vehicle door permits either manual or power actuation thereof. The assembly includes a housing with an upwardly-facing recess and a hollow passage formed therethrough. The assembly also includes an actuator with an upper portion extending through the housing and into the recess. The actuator is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The assembly may include a solenoid located below the housing and operable to move the actuator. The housing may include side walls on opposite sides of the recess, with portions of the side walls located close to the actuator on both sides thereof, to resist unauthorized acess to the actuator. Selected portions of the housing side walls may extend inwardly into the recess to form blocking bosses which are situated in close proximity to the actuator, to partially block access thereto.
Abstract:
A component for a door of a motor vehicle comprises a rod movable within the door, and a flocking along at least a portion of the length of the rod.
