    摘要: This invention discloses tongs-linkage, which, in its extended position, provides an essentially triangular-shaped surface, whereby the links of the tongs-linkage are themselves the panels that form the surface. Such assemblies may be planar, or, by use of intermediate hub elements, may form a surface with curvature. As such an assembly is compressed, the panel-links slide over one another, compressing down to a compact stack. Such tongs-linkages may be joined to similar linkages by pivots lying along their respective edges thereby forming extended structural surfaces. Surfaces that are planar, cone-shaped and doubly-curved surfaces of revolution are disclosed. In each case when the structure is retracted it compresses down to a compact linear element or ring.

    摘要: This invention discloses tongs-linkage, which, in its extended position, provides an essentially triangular-shaped surface, whereby the links of the tongs-linkage are themselves the panels that form the surface.     摘要: A building roof consists of an assembly of adjacent roofing units, each comprising a pyramid-shaped main section of which the lower edges lead into, and are secured to, a rectangular peripheral assembly of channel ducts, the adjacent ducts of succeeding units being connected and sealed. Fascia units are secured to and extend outwardly from the outer flanges of the channel ducts about the periphery of the roof, each fascia unit having a sloping top substantially co-planar with the pyramid surface secured to the inner flange of the duct, a substantially vertical outer face, and a substantially horizontal bottom leading back to and seated on an exterior wall of the building supporting the roof.

    摘要: A concentric building including a foundation; a first substantially circular platform serving as a lower floor resting upon the foundation; at least one second substantially circular platform smaller in diameter than, and concentric with the first platform, the second platform serving as an upper floor. A plurality of vertically oriented poles are secured between the first and second platforms, and positioned to rigidly hold the second platform above the first platform. A lower wall is attached to the circumference of, and slopes outwardly away from the first platform. At least one upper wall is attached to the circumference of, and slopes outwardly away from the second platform. First and second tension cables are clamped around the uppermost outer perimeters of the lower and upper walls, respectively, for retaining the walls in an upright position. A roof is secured to the top edges of the lower and upper walls, the upper portion of the roof being truncated to provide a skylight. A hatchway is provided in the upper platform as an access means between the lower and upper platforms; and a doorway is provided in the lower wall.

    摘要: A building of geodesic type and comprised of four sub-assembly hexagonal units, one of which units constitutes a roof and the other three are disposed in tripod fashion to support the roof and together therewith constitute a generally hemispherical space capturing structure. The upper portions of the spaces between the three wall hexagonal units are closed by isosceles preformed panels which will ordinarily be flat and trapezoid in form and identical with each other, while all the hexagonal units are also identical with each other and each composed of six identical triangular panels. The triangular panels are isosceles and apices of the six triangles in each unit are at a common point removed from the common plane of the bases of the triangles so that the units are dished. All the panels are peripherally bevelled for ease and stability of interconnection and the building is completely prefabricated. From the foregoing it will be evident that the building is constructed from elements of only two basic shapes, namely, an isosceles triangle and an isosceles trapezoid, all the triangles being also identical.

    摘要: Quadrilateral plate components folded along one of their diagonals, the fold angle of each component being optionally variable so that the desired fold angle may be selected during assembly of a structure and maintained by transverse restraining means, which are attached to the components'' apices lying at opposite sides of the fold line, which transverse restraining means may be of variable length adjustable to achieve the desired fold angle; the component''s free sides having connection surface means so designed that identical folded plate components can be interconnected in various positions relative to each other to thereby build up a great variety of structures having different overall configurations, ranging from planar surfaces to complex, non-developable surfaces with multiple curvatures. Where the restraining means are rigid the components can be shipped in flat or folded condition with the restraining means not connected in restraining relation.
