摘要： In one embodiment, a system for removing a plastic wrap from a cylindrical module includes a conveyor transporting the cylindrical module toward a disperser with the cylindrical axis of the module parallel to the direction of conveyor movement. In another embodiment, the disperser is a travelling head disperser thereby providing relative movement between the modules and the disperser. The direction of the wrap around the module is determined and the cover is removed during rotation of the module, either by unwrapping the plastic or by slitting the plastic and then rotating the module. The equipment used to handle a cylindrical module is moved out of the path of movement of a conventional rectangular module so an installation can handle both rectangular and wrapped cylindrical modules.

The bales move in a forward direction up the incline in increments correlated with the rate of fiber plucking to maintain the plane of the top surface of the bales in fiber-plucking contact with the fiber plucking head.

摘要： An infeed conveyor feeds seed cotton modules successively to a feeder head having disperser drums which reduce the modules to clumps of cotton. Incorporated into the conveyor are fluted rollers and beater rollers which cooperate to agitate the bottom portion of the modules and work the fibers on the bottom of each module so as to stretch and relax these fibers, thereby causing the sand, dirt, mud, trash and other debris accumulated along the bottom of the modules to be released. A conveyor feeds this debris to a hopper. Further, after the cotton modules have been dispersed into clumps of cotton by disperser drums in a feeder head and the clumps deposited in a clump chamber, a trough having a sieve means receives the clumps of cotton. In the trough, a conveyor disposed in the trough urges the clumps of cotton in a lateral direction toward an air separator box adjacent the feeder head. The movement of the cotton in the trough allows sand, dirt and other debris released from the clumps of cotton to pass through the sieve means in the trough. The clumps of cotton removed from the feeder head are introduced into an air separator box where additional contaminants are removed from the dispersed cotton prior to delivery to a cotton gin.

摘要： A fiber module, or block of compacted fiber material, is conveyed and broken apart, or separated, into many loose uncompacted fibers. In the method a fiber module is removed from a carrier and moved upon a shuttle carriage, which is moved laterally into axial alignment with a horizontal bed. The fiber module is conveyed onto the bed and then conveyed along the bed to a breaker device, wherein the fiber module is broken apart.The apparatus useful for carrying out the above method includes, in combination, a shuttle carriage capable of lateral movement with respect to a generally horizontal bed, the bed having a plurality of sets of power driven rollers disposed within it; and a breaker device having a plurality of rotary breaker tubes located within it.

摘要： A system is disclosed wherein fibers are mounted on pallets for ease in handling and storage. The system uses the pallets to provide a continuous, uniform rate of fiber feed to other apparatus for subsequent fiber processing. A positioning system arranges pallets in end-to-end abutting relationship to provide the uniform rate of fiber feed generally desired for fiber processing. A plurality of vertically spaced horizontally disposed rotating augers engage the advancing face of fibers on a pallet to remove the bulk of fibers therefrom. The pallet surface is subsequently engaged by a pallet sweeper which removes any fibers not removed by the rotating augers. The loosened fibers are deposited on a transverse conveyor which overlies the pallet surface and moves the fibers transversely of the pallet unloading apparatus for delivery to the fiber processing apparatus.

摘要： In a bale plucking machine wherein a fiber bale is reciprocally displaced between a pair of displacement terminals by a pair of conveyer means disposed with an intervening space therebetween and fiber tufts are continuously plucked from the fiber bale by a plucking roller when the fiber bale passes over the plucking roller, a method and device for supplying a fresh fiber bale on the conveyer means. When the thickness of the processing fiber bale has been reduced to a predetermined limit, the processing fiber bale is displaced to a waiting position formed on an extended portion of one of the conveyer means outside the terminal of the reciprocal displacement thereof, and the conveyer means are stopped. Thereafter a fresh fiber bale is supplied onto the processing fiber bale reserved at the waiting position. During the above-mentioned supply motion, the driving of the conveyer means is again commenced.

摘要： Apparatus and method for removing fibers from fiber-laden pallets is disclosed in which the bulk of fibers is removed in a primary unloading area thus leaving a thin layer of fibers that are removed by a surface cleaning device. The surface cleaning device included a multiple-blade rotary sweeper which is spaced vertically above the uppermost portion of a pallet to enable the pallet to move therebelow without mechanical interference with the rotary sweeper. A cowling encloses a portion of the periphery of the rotary sweeper to increase the efficacy of fiber removal by the rotary sweeper. The rotary sweeper mechanically engages an upper portion of the thin layer and removes it from the pallet. A suitable gas blast device impinges upon the pallet surface at a location substantially below the rotary sweeper to engage a lower portion of the thin layers of fibers. The gas blast device causes fibers to be lifted upward and into mechanical engagement by the blades of the rotating sweeper. The gas blast device may include an elongated conduit having a plurality of uniformly spaced apart orifice openings or having one or more elongated slots through which pressurized air is exhausted.
