摘要: An indexable cutting insert having a triangular shape includes three sides and three cutting corners. A first planar surface and a second, parallel planar surface connects the three sides. In one embodiment, three major cutting edges are formed at an intersection between a respective side and the first planar surface. In another embodiment, six major cutting edges are formed at an intersection between a respective side and the planar surfaces. In another embodiment, six major right-handed cutting edges and six major left-handed cutting edges are formed at an intersection between the sides and the first and second planar surfaces.

摘要: A milling insert (1) for chip removing machining, has a positive basic geometry, including at least three main cutting edges (H1-H3) and three associated minor cutting edges (B1-B3), the milling insert (1) on the underside (L1) thereof being provided with at least two, mutually intersecting, sets of rectilinear grooves/notches, the sets of grooves/notches defining essentially pyramidal projecting parts (P), the sets of grooves/notches intersecting opposite side surfaces (S1-S6) of the milling insert (1). A face milling cutter equipped with such milling inserts is described. Characteristic of the milling insert (1) is that when the milling insert is seen in a planar view, the rectilinear direction (R1-R3) defined by each set of grooves/notches forms a right angle with the tangent of a minor cutting edge (B1-B3).

摘要: A cutting insert has a top surface, a bottom surface, a plurality of side surfaces that connect the top and bottom surfaces. The side surfaces form an obtuse angle with the bottom surface as well as an acute angle with the top surface. The side surfaces include a first side surface and a second side surface, which form an obtuse angle with each other when seen from the above. A main cutting edge is formed at an intersection between the first side surface and the top surface. An inclined cutting edge, which is only for ramp milling, and a minor cutting edge are formed at an intersection between the second side surface and the top surface. An obtuse angle, which the second side surface forms with the bottom surface, is greater than that which the first side surface forms with the bottom surface.

A cutting insert includes: an upper surface and a lower surface facing each other and having a plurality of corner parts; a side surface connecting the upper surface and the lower surface and forming intersecting edges with the upper surface and the lower surface, respectively; and a through hole that has a central axis extending from the upper surface to the lower surface and that is formed for penetration from the upper surface to the lower surface. A corner cutting edge arranged at a position corresponding to a corner part of the upper surface, a minor cutting edge connected to a first end of the corner cutting edge, and a major cutting edge connected to a second end of the corner cutting edge are formed on the intersecting edge between the upper surface and the side surface. A flank of the corner cutting edge and a recessed part located on the lower surface side of the flank of the corner cutting edge are formed on the side surface.

To this end, the cutting insert of the present invention includes an upper surface, a lower surface, a plurality of lateral surfaces connecting the upper surface with the lower surface, and a plurality of upper cutting edges formed between the plurality of lateral surfaces and the upper surface. In addition, the cutting insert coupled with the coupling part of the cutting tool includes: first and second upper cutting load reducing portions formed on the upper surface and provided at each side coming in contact with first and second upper cutting edges of the plurality of upper cutting edges facing each other so as to reduce the cutting load; and a one side position setting portion provided on a first lateral surface of the plurality of lateral surfaces not coming in contact with the first and second upper cutting edges so as to set the position of the cutting insert in the coupling part.

Spiral grooves (28) are formed so as to extend from a base end side of the tool body to a leading end side in a peripheral surface (23) of the tool body. The spiral grooves (28) each have a plurality of insert seats (30) formed so as to be shifted from each other from the base end side toward the leading end side. The insert seats (30) each have a bottom surface (31) and first and second side surfaces (32, 33) that extend so as to intersect with the bottom surface (31). The first side surface (32) faces the base end side of the tool body (20), and the second side surface (33) faces the leading end side of the tool body (20) and is located on the base end side with respect to the first side surface (32). In at least one insert seat (30) located closer to the base end side with respect to an insert seat (30) located closest to the leading end side of the tool body (20), a length (L1) of the first side surface (32) is longer than a length (L2) of the second side surface (33).

摘要: A rotary cutting tool has a plurality of circumferentially spaced grooves, each having a plurality of cutting inserts mounted. Each cutting insert has a wave-shaped major cutting edge, a corner cutting edge, and a minor cutting edge. The cutting inserts are arranged such that, the phases of the waves of the rotational trajectories formed by the cutting inserts that are adjacent to each other in a direction along the tool rotational axis coincide with each other in one groove. Also, the rotational trajectories of at least part of cutting edge portions of at least some cutting inserts are overlapped with each other in the direction of the tool rotational axis. Accordingly, even when the cutting edge portion is used as a major cutting edge and as an inner cutting edge, it is still possible to reduce cutting load and suppress breakage.

摘要: A milling insert includes a polygonal tubular insert body which has: rake faces on one polygonal surface thereof, flanks composed of circumferential surfaces adjacent to the polygonal surface, and cutting edges defining a ridge line where the rake faces and flanks intersect each other as cutting edges. The rake faces have serrations where mount portions and valley portions are arrayed alternately to intersect the cutting edges. The ridge line has a waveform shape when the flanks are viewed from above. Bottom portions and top portions of the waveform are formed into concave circular arc portions and convex circular arc portions, respectively, and are alternately repeated. Both of the concave and convex circular arc portions are a ¼ circular arc or more to a ⅓ circular arc or less. Each of the concave circular arc portions is unevenly located between the convex circular arc portions adjacent thereto.

摘要: An indexable cutting insert has first and second side surfaces and a peripheral surface extending therebetween. The peripheral surface has identical peripheral faces, each divided into two identical first and second cutting sections. Each cutting section has a first cutting edge, a second cutting edge, a corner cutting edge which extends between the first and second cutting edges and a rake surface having a planar rake surface flat forming an engagement surface. The rake surface meets the first side surface at the first cutting edge. The rake surface flat meets the second side surface at a rake surface open edge. On each peripheral face, the two cutting sections are non-coplanar. Each two rake surface flats associated with first cutting sections converge in a direction along an insert axis and the cutting edges are raised above the rake surface flat.
