    摘要: A filter element includes a ring of filtration media circumscribing a central axis and defining a central cavity. An annular end cap of the filter element is sealingly bonded at an end of the media. The end cap includes a central opening into the central cavity, and a lateral opening spaced laterally outward from the central opening. The central opening includes a threaded connection portion to enable the element to be spun-on to a complimentarily-threaded connection portion of a filter head. The connection portion of the central opening includes at least one axially-extending slot opening radially away from the connection portion.

    摘要: Quick connect mechanisms between a fluid filter and a head that permits quick connection/disconnection between the two. The mechanisms clamp the filter shell in place with a plurality of radially displaceable locking elements. When the filter is inserted into the head, an element that controls the radial displacement of the locking element is rotated to radially displace the locking elements and lock the shell in place. External sealing is achieved by the means of suitable sealing elements, for example a compression face seal and/or a radial O-ring seal. The clamping force comes from the rotation of the control element to a lock position which displaces the locking elements in a radial direction to a lock position. When the control element is rotated to an unlock position, the locking elements are free to move or are actuated to an unlock position, allowing the filter to be removed.

    摘要: Provided is a filter element includes an end cap having at least one stop member extending radially outwardly from an outer surface, the at least stop member having at least one stop surface for contacting a tab on a slip thread collar of a filter head assembly. When the filter element is coupled to the filter head assembly, the filter element prevents rotation of the slip thread collar relative to a filter head, thereby allowing threads on the slip thread collar to mate with threads on a filter bowl to couple the filter head assembly to the filter bowl. The interaction between the filter element and filter head assembly prevents the filter head assembly from being coupled to the filter bowl when the filter element is not installed.

    摘要: Oil filter apparatus including a first modified high performance full-flow filter and a second super efficient by-pass filter. The modified full-flow filter is adapted to permit the attachment of a by-pass filter hose thereto on the forward end thereof for passage of a portion of oil from the modified full-flow filter to the by-pass filter. A drain plug hose is further connected to the by-pass filter for passage of oil from the by-pass filter to the oil pan. The by-pass filter hose and drain plug hose are connected to the modified full-flow filter, by-pass filter, and the oil pan by means of pivotal swivel fittings adapted to permit attachment of the filter apparatus to any make automobile. The by-pass filter may be mounted inside of a neoprene coated nylon sleeve, by a special mounting bracket, or by a modified by-pass filter base. A method of retrofitting an engine to accommodate the oil filter apparatus is also provided.
