Abstract: Provided is a method of processing and transmitting three-dimensional data represented as a point cloud.
The method of encoding three-dimensional (3D) data includes: generating a geometry image indicating position information of points, a texture image indicating color information of the points, and an occupancy map indicating occupancy information of the position information of the points in the geometry image, by projecting the points included in the 3D data onto a two-dimensional (2D) plane; generating a filtered occupancy map by performing filtering on the occupancy map; performing image padding on the geometry image and the texture image, based on the filtered occupancy map; and generating and outputting a bitstream including a padded geometry image, a padded texture image, a downsampled occupancy map, and information about the filtering performed on the occupancy map.-

Abstract: A 5th generation (5G) or 6th generation (6G) communication system for supporting a higher data transfer rate beyond a 4th generation (4G) communication system, such as a long term evolution (LTE) system and a method for supporting, by a first terminal, switching between a plurality of modes for a call is provided. Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of encoding a three-dimensional image including a point cloud. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of encoding a three-dimensional image may include determining a spatial area in a three-dimensional space represented by the point cloud, projecting, onto a two-dimensional plane, a plurality of points included in the point cloud to generate a plurality of patches, determining at least one patch corresponding to the determined spatial area, down-sampling at least one patch according to a predefined rule, generating a two-dimensional image by packing the at least one down-sampled patch and the plurality of patches corresponding to areas other than the determined spatial area, and generating and outputting a bitstream including data in which the two-dimensional image is compressed and information related to the down-sampling performed to generate the two-dimensional image.

Abstract: A method for transmitting an image according to the present disclosure comprises the steps of: acquiring three-dimensional stereoscopic images; creating a color equirectangular projection (ERP) image and a depth ERP image from the three-dimensional stereoscopic images; and transmitting the color ERP image and the depth ERP image. Pixels of the color ERP image correspond to pixels of the depth ERP image, the pixels of the color ERP image comprise color information, and the pixels of the depth ERP image comprise depth information of corresponding pixels of the color ERP image. The step of creating the color ERP image and the depth ERP image from the three-dimensional stereoscopic images may comprise the steps of: forming a concentric sphere having a specific point on three-dimensional coordinates as a center point; mapping points of the three-dimensional stereoscopic images to the surface of the concentric sphere; generating the color ERP image on the basis of color information of the mapped points; and generating the depth ERP image on the basis of depth information of the mapped points. The three-dimensional stereoscopic images may include three-dimensional position information of the points and color information of the points.

Abstract: A decoding device, an encoding device and a method for point cloud decoding is disclosed. The method includes decoding the compressed bitstream into a first set and second set of 2-D frames. The first set of 2-D frames include first set of regular patches representing geometry of a 3-D point cloud and the second set of 2-D frames include first set of regular patches representing texture of the 3-D point cloud. The method includes identifying in the first set of 2-D frames, a missed points patch representing geometry of points of the 3-D point cloud not included in the regular patches, and in the second set of 2-D frames a missed points patch that represents texture of the points of the 3-D point cloud not included in the regular patches. The method also includes generating, using the set of 2-D frames, the 3-D point cloud using the missed points patches.
