Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system and method of providing UE capability of supporting reception of multicast in Radio Resource Control_INACTIVE (RRC_INACTIVE) state. The method comprises sending an uplink-message to a communication network to register the UE's intention of joining a multicast session to receive a multicast service. Further a capability-indication is included in the uplink-message, where the capability indication indicates if the UE is capable of joining the multicast session in Radio Resource Control_INACTIVE (RRC_INACTIVE) state. Furthermore, the multicast service is received in the RRC_INACTIVE state based on capability negotiation between the UE and the communication network, in response to the capability indication.
