A method and an apparatus for reselecting a beam and selecting a suitable beam to be camped on, by a terminal, in order to be provided with a service in a next generation mobile communication system operating on the basis of a beam.

Abstract: A method of operating a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes obtaining, from a radio link control (RLC) entity associated with a cell group of the terminal, information about a number of retransmissions of a packet, identifying whether packet duplication is activated, based on information indicating that the number of retransmissions of the packet reaches a maximum number of retransmissions of the packet, and transmitting, to a base station, a message indicating a failure of retransmission of the packet, based on a result of the identifying.

In an embodiment of the disclosure, a method performed by a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method comprises: receiving, from a base station, a radio resource control (RRC) message including information on an identifier to indicate a secondary cell (Scell), information on at least one bandwidth part (BWP) of the Scell, and information including first information on a first BWP to be used as dormant BWP among the at least one BWP and second information on a second BWP to be activated as non-dormant BWP from dormant BWP; receiving, from the base station, downlink control information (DCI) including a bitmap associated with a BWP activation of the Scell; and activating a BWP identified based on the identifier, the bitmap, and at least one of the first information or the second information.
According to the disclosure, via a method by which a new dormant (or hibernation) mode may be operated in units of bandwidth parts (bandwidth part-level), a carrier aggregation technology can be rapidly activated, and a battery of a terminal can be saved.-

Abstract: An operation method of a transmitting apparatus in a wireless communication system is provided. The operation method includes receiving a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) header configuration and a header compression configuration through higher layer signaling and when an SDAP entity receives first data from an upper layer, generating an SDAP header and transmitting second data obtained by adding the generated SDAP header to the first data to a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity, the generating and the transmitting being performed by the SDAP entity, performing, by the PDCP entity, header compression on an upper layer header of the second data, excluding the SDAP header, performing, by the PDCP entity, ciphering on data of the second data, excluding the SDAP header and generating a PDCP header and transmitting third data obtained by adding the generated PDCP header to the ciphered data to a lower layer, the generating and the transmitting being performed by the PDCP entity.

The method includes receiving, from a base station, packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) configuration information including information indicating that a PDCP layer is configured with out-of-order delivery; identifying that the PDCP layer is configured with the out-of-order delivery based on the PDCP configuration information; and processing a PDCP packet based on a result of identifying that the PDCP layer is configured with the out-of-order delivery. A header compression or a header decompression associated with a robust header compression (ROHC) are not configured, in case that the PDCP layer is configured with the out-of-order delivery.
