Abstract: A detection area 112 is set in a three-dimensional space in which a subject exists. When an actual hand enters the detection area 112, coordinate points (white and black dots) represented by pixels making up a silhouette 114 of the hand in a depth image enter the detection area 112. In the detection area 112, a reference vector 126 is set that shows the direction which the hand should face relative to the shoulder as a reference point 122. Then, an inner product between two vectors, a vector from the reference point 122 to each of coordinate points and the reference vector 126, is calculated, followed by comparison between the inner products. Positions of coordinate points whose inner products are ranked high are acquired as the position of tips of the hand.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes an imaging apparatus that irradiates reference light in a predetermined wavelength band to a subject and captures reflection of the reference light from the subject to acquire data of captured images including a polarized image in multiple bearings (S30). Based on the polarized image, the imaging apparatus acquires a polarization degree image representing a distribution of polarization degrees (S32). The imaging apparatus extracts a region whose polarization degree falls within a predetermined range of polarization degrees as an image of the subject having a predetermined material (S34). Abstract: A captured image acquisition section 50 acquires, from an imaging apparatus 12, data of a polarized image obtained by capturing a target object and stores the data into an image data storage section 52. A region extraction section 60 of a target object recognition section 54 extracts a region in which a figure of the target object is included in the polarized image. A normal line distribution acquisition section 62 acquires a distribution of normal line vectors on a target object surface in regard to the extracted region. A model adjustment section 66 adjusts a three-dimensional model of the target object stored in a model data storage section 64 in a virtual three-dimensional space such that the three-dimensional model conforms to the distribution of the normal line vectors acquired from the polarized image to specify a state of the target object.

Abstract: An image of a block or the like entering a space above a play mat is picked up by an image pickup apparatus, and an information processing apparatus detects and recognizes the block on the basis of a picture of the block in a picked up image and performs information processing. The play mat includes a play field that defines a detection space for the block, and a calibration chart including at least a plurality of regions of colors of different luminances. The image pickup apparatus adjusts an exposure time period, a gain value for each color component and a correction rule upon gamma correction on the basis of the picture of the calibration chart in the picked up image.

For a period of time for which the head is moved, the image generating apparatus 10 generates display images 72 each having the reduced resolution, and the head-mounted display 100 generates display images 73 obtained by enlarging the display images 72.
