    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Described is a method for providing a Phase Tracking Reference Signal (PTRS) in a wireless communication system comprising at least a first base station and a second base station, and a mobile device. The first and second base stations cooperate to jointly support the mobile device. The method comprises identifying at least two mutually exclusive sets of frequency resources. The method further comprises mapping, by the first base station, at least a portion of PTRS information of the first base station to a first set of the frequency resources, mapping, by the first base station, a zero-power PTRS to a second set of the frequency resources, or leaving, by the first base station, the second set of frequency resources empty, and transmitting, by the first base station, a signal comprising the PTRS information of the first base station according to the frequency resource mapping. The method further comprises mapping, by the second base station, at least a portion of PTRS information of the second base station to the second set of the frequency resources, mapping, by the second base station, a zero-power PTRS to the first set of the frequency resources, or leaving, by the second base station, the first set of frequency resources empty, and transmitting, by the second base station, a signal comprising the PTRS information of the second base station according to the frequency resource mapping.

    Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for providing information related to density of a PT-RS in a wireless communication system. The operation method of a base station may include: configuring a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) corresponding to a terminal; and transmitting time and frequency density information of the PT-RS to the terminal, and the time and frequency density information of the PT-RS is configured based on threshold values of time and frequency density of the PT-RS which are compressed based on at least one of a uniform sampling grid scheme, a non-uniform sampling grid scheme, a combinational indexing scheme, or a scheme of imposing a limit on a threshold value. Other embodiments may be possible.

    Abstract: Provided are methods and apparatuses for performing a random access of a terminal in a wireless communication system. A method, performed by a terminal, of performing a random access, according to an embodiment, includes receiving preamble configuration information from a base station, obtaining a RACH (random access channel) preamble scaled in length in proportion to a difference between an expected minimum distance and an expected maximum distance to the base station from opposed edges of a cell served by the base station, based on the preamble configuration information and transmitting the obtained RACH preamble to the base station to access a NTN (non-terrestrial network).

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Described is a method for providing a Phase Tracking Reference Signal (PTRS) in a wireless communication system. The method comprises transmitting, by a base station to a plurality of mobile devices, the PTRS in a wide beam transmission at a first power level. The first power level is set such that at least some of the mobile devices receive the PTRS with a sufficiently high signal strength to enable the PTRS to be correctly received and such that at least some of the mobile devices receive the PTRS with a sufficiently low signal strength to enable the PTRS to be processed as manageable interference. A first mobile device may estimate the Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) of the received PTRS, and transmit, to the base station, feedback information based on the estimated SINR. The base station may transmit, to the first mobile device, a narrow beam transmission comprising one or more allocated Resource Elements (REs) configured according to the feedback information. The allocated REs may be configured to (i) be left empty, so as to carry no information, (ii) contain data, or (iii) contain PTRS.
