Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a narrowband TDD frame structure of a group of narrowband TDD frame structures for narrowband communications. The apparatus may transmit a series of repetitions of a narrowband physical downlink channel using the narrowband TDD frame structure. In one aspect, a first portion of repetitions from the series of repetitions may be transmitted in one or more first sets of downlink subframes using a first scrambling sequence. In one aspect, a second portion of repetitions from the series of repetitions may be transmitted in one or more second sets of downlink subframes using a second scrambling sequence.

In some aspects, a user equipment may determine a relationship between a first set of antenna ports, used for demodulation reference signals (DMRS) associated with a machine-type communication physical downlink control channel (MPDCCH) and used for the MPDCCH, and a second set of antenna ports used for cell-specific reference signals (CRS); receive CRS on one or more antenna ports of the second set of antenna ports; and receive the MPDCCH using at least the CRS based at least in part on the relationship. Abstract: The present disclosure provides reduced cell-specific reference signal (CRS) transmissions for evolved machine type communication (eMTC). In one aspect, a network entity may determine at least one narrow band for transmission of a CRS. The network entity may further identify one or more resource blocks proximate the at least one narrow band and transmit the CRS on the narrow band and the one or more proximate resource blocks to a UE. In another aspect, a UE may apply a receive window to filter one or more noise samples outside at least one narrow band allocation, the receive window corresponding to one or more resource blocks located outside the defined number of resource blocks of the at least one narrow band allocation. The UE may further receive the CRS within the at least one narrow band allocation from a network entity in response to applying the receive window.

Abstract: A UE may determine a frame structure for narrowband communications, the frame structure corresponding to one frame structure from a group of TDD frame structures of different downlink and uplink subframe configurations. The UE receives configuration information indicating a first carrier to monitor for a BCH and/or a SIB1. Then, the UE receives a PSS, an SSS, and the BCH and/or the SIB1 using the frame structure determined for the narrowband communications. The first carrier that is used to receive the BCH and/or the SIB1 may be different from a second carrier used to receive one or more of the PSS or the SSS.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatus for early termination of decoding of communication channels for power saving in narrowband devices are provided. One technique includes monitoring for one or more first repetitions of at least one communication channel from a base station. The device determines, based on the monitoring, whether to refrain from monitoring for one or more second repetitions of the at least one communication channel. The device enters a low power mode if the determination is to refrain from monitoring for the one or more second repetitions of the at least one communication channel.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In addition, the apparatus may determine a first set of subframes in the narrowband TDD frame structure used for transmitting a downlink control channel to a UE. In one aspect, a last subframe in the first set of subframes may be subframe n. Further, the apparatus may determine a second set of subframes in the narrowband TDD frame structure used for transmitting a downlink data channel to the UE. In certain aspects, a first subframe in the second set of subframes may be delayed based on k0 number of subframes after the subframe n. In certain other aspects, a last subframe in the second set of subframes may be subframe n+k0+x. Additionally, the apparatus may signal first information associated with the k0 number of subframes to the UE in a first delay field in a DCI transmission.

Abstract: There is a need to support narrowband TDD frame structure for narrowband communications. The present disclosure provides a solution by supporting one or more narrowband TDD frame structure(s) for narrowband communications. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a bandwidth for narrowband communications. The apparatus may determine a narrowband TDD frame structure for the narrowband communications. In one aspect, the narrowband TDD frame structure may include at least one of two or more contiguous downlink subframes, or one or more flexible subframes that can be configured as either a downlink subframe or an uplink subframe. The apparatus may communicate with a UE using the narrowband TDD frame structure determined for the narrowband communications.
