Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for managing data connectivity at a user equipment (UE). The managing may include determining that all traffic of all PDN connections of the UE is currently offloaded to a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) access network and then refraining from transmitting and receiving data over Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) PDN connections while all traffic of all PDN connections of the UE is offloaded to the WLAN access network. In response to detecting a triggering event, a PDN connection may be established with at least one of an available WWAN access network or the WLAN access network, according to a current WWAN camping status of the UE and a WLAN offload policy.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A modem processor of a user equipment (UE) may receive a switch indication directing the modem to utilize a designated SIM and may access identification (ID) information from the SIM, including ID information for a network operator. The modem processor may then retrieve a stored access point name (APN) associated with the network operator and establish a connection to the data network identified by the stored APN. In some cases, the APN may be stored in the modem processor after a successful connection to the data network using the designated SIM. In some cases, the UE may also identify a network priority rule associated with the network operator of the SIM and establish the connection to the data network based on the priority rule.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A UE may establish a wireless communication link with a base station in accordance with a radio access technology (RAT), and an internet connection with the base station. The UE may identify a lack of support by a network that includes the base station for a type of voice calls associated with the RAT. The UE may transmit a discovery query for a gateway to a core network, and the UE may establish a connection with the gateway via the internet connection. The UE may initiate a voice call via a call path from the UE to the core network, where the call path may include the wireless communications link with the base station in accordance with the RAT and also may include the internet connection with the gateway.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive policy information that specifies radio access technology (RAT) priorities for route selection, including a RAT priority of non-cellular over cellular. The UE may establish access for an application over a route that is selected based at least in part on the RAT priority. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for communicating, by a user equipment (UE), over multiple slices. A method that may be performed by the UE includes transmitting, from an operating system (OS) to a modem, an indication of a start network request originating from an application, the transmitting of the indication based on a determination that a traffic descriptor associated with the application is a non-default descriptor. The method may also include determining one or more parameters for establishing a new network connection for the application, the one or more parameters determined based on a routing policy that provides mapping between the traffic descriptor and the one or more parameters.
Abstract:
Aspects of the disclosure relate to enabling new radio (NR) cellular quality of service (QoS) for non-internet protocol (IP) data sessions. In a particular aspect of the disclosure, a non-IP based protocol data unit (PDU) session is established, and a packet filter is selected based on at least one aspect of a data packet formatted in a non-IP format associated with the non-IP PDU session. A transmission of the data packet is then filtered according to the packet filter.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for measurement reporting. The method comprises receiving, via a first radio access technology (RAT), a first request for one or more measurement reports, translating the first request to a group of second requests for measurement associated with at least a second RAT, and transmitting at least one of the second requests to initiate gathering measurements associated with the second RAT for use in generating the one or more measurement reports in response to the first request.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may prevent rejected attachment requests when connecting to a trusted wireless local area network (WLAN) and from a wireless wide area network (WWAN). For example, an attachment packet data network (PDN) connection may be maintained with the WWAN while connected to the trusted WLAN. In some cases, the connection used to maintain the attachment may be an internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) connection. Alternatively, the UE may determine that the WLAN connection is a trusted connection and deactivate the WWAN connection. Should the WLAN become unavailable the UE may reactivate the connection with the WWAN.
Abstract:
Various embodiments provide methods performed by an modem-assisted-service-classification (MASC) client application operating on a multi-SIM computing device for implementing MASC functionality for two or more subscriptions. In various embodiments, the MASC client may implement MASC functionality by associating MASC policies for one or more access point names (APNs) with a specific subscription and by applying those policies to applications associated with those one or more APNs while that specific subscription is in active communication with its network. Thus, by managing a mapping of subscriptions, APNs/networks, and applications, the MASC client may enable implementation of MASC functionality for a multi-SIM computing device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for supporting, in a device, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)-Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) mobility, data offload, and simultaneous usage of different access networks on a per Access Point Name (APN) basis. The device determines an access network among WWAN and WLAN for a data stream having an APN. The device additionally hands off the data stream according to the determined access network, while maintaining Internet Protocol (IP) continuity. The device further routes packets of the data stream to at least one of a protocol stack or interface for the determined access network in accordance with an inter-system routing policy (ISRP).
