Abstract: There is a need to support narrowband TDD frame structure for narrowband communications. The present disclosure provides a solution by supporting one or more narrowband TDD frame structure(s) for narrowband communications. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a narrowband communication frame structure comprising a FDD frame structure or a TDD frame structure and a narrowband TDD frame structure configuration for narrowband communications from a group of narrowband TDD frame structures configurations. The apparatus may determine one or more narrowband carriers and subframes within the one or more narrowband carriers to transmit at least one of a BCH or a SIB1 based on the narrowband communication frame structure or the TDD frame structure configuration. The apparatus may transmit a PSS, an SSS, and at least one of a BCH or an SIB1 using the narrowband TDD frame structure determined for the narrowband communications. In one aspect, a carrier used for transmitting the BCH and/or the SIB may be different than a carrier used to transmit one or more of the PSS or the SSS. In another aspect, a narrowband carrier used for transmitting the BCH may be different than a narrowband carrier used to transmit one or more of the PSS or the SSS.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a receiving device may receive a wireless signal represented as a receive matrix. The wireless signal carries one or more information symbols modified through a wireless channel that is represented as a channel matrix. The receiving device may perform QR decomposition on the channel matrix to generate an upper triangular channel matrix. The receiving device may determine a selected demapping technique using the upper triangular channel matrix. The receiving device may perform the selected demapping technique on the receive matrix and the channel matrix. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: A resynchronization signal (RSS) may extend across multiple physical resource blocks (PRBs) or subframes, which may cause the RRS to be scheduled to overlap with other downlink transmissions. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for management of RSS and one or more other transmission types that may have overlapping wireless resources with the RSS. If one or more other downlink transmissions are scheduled for resources that overlap with resources scheduled for an RSS transmission, the UE may receive the RSS transmission or the one or more other downlink transmissions, or a combination thereof, based on a prioritization of the transmission types of the one or more other downlink transmissions relative to RSS. The RSS transmission or the one or more other transmissions may be delayed, dropped, punctured, or rate-matched when the RSS transmission and the one or more other downlink transmissions conflict.

Abstract: Techniques are described for handling collisions between uplink transmissions and downlink transmissions over a wireless spectrum. Some of the techniques allow a UE to perform a collision management procedure after identifying a transmission collision (e.g., a collision between a downlink transmission with repetition and an uplink transmission, or a collision between a downlink transmission with repetition and a guard frame for an uplink transmission). The collision management procedure allows the UE to refrain from transmitting at least part of an uplink transmission, refrain from decoding at least part of a downlink transmission, or a combination thereof. Other techniques allow a base station to mitigate transmission collisions by scheduling downlink transmissions based on received, inferred, or determined parameters of uplink transmissions.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to techniques for mitigating the decoding errors observed at the receiver as a result of puncturing symbols between consecutive subframes having the same transmission direction. To reduce the decoding errors, a plurality of transmission options, each including a number of resource blocks and a modulation and coding scheme (MCS), may be identified. In addition, each transmission option may be associated with one or more puncturing patterns that hinder decoding of a codeword at the receiver. The base station or user equipment (UE) may then select or modify at least one aspect of a scheduling decision involving the communication of the codeword in a given subframe of at least two consecutive subframes to minimize decoding errors. For example, a selected puncturing pattern or a transport block size associated with a selected transmission option may be modified.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may receive a scheduling indicator on a first instance of a control channel. The wireless device may determine that a data transmission is scheduled for the wireless device based at least in part on the received scheduling indicator. The wireless device may identify a first frequency band associated with the data transmission and a second frequency band associated with a second instance of the control channel. The wireless device may identify a third frequency band to monitor based at least in part on the first and second frequency bands and a bandwidth capability of the wireless device. The third frequency band includes the first frequency band. The third frequency band comprises an associated bandwidth that is based at least in part on the bandwidth capability of the wireless device.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for optimizing real time services (e.g., such as a voice over Long Term Evolution (LTE) (VoLTE)) for devices with limited communications resources, such as machine type communication (MTC) devices and enhanced MTC (eMTC) devices. In one aspect, a UE determines a first configuration of subframes within at least one radio frame available for the UE and other UEs to use for bundled communications with a BS. The UE receives an indication of one or more subframes within the at least one radio frame that are unavailable for bundled uplink transmissions, and determines a second configuration of subframes to use for bundled communications based on the indication. The UE overrides the first configuration of subframes with the second configuration of subframes, and communicates with the BS using the second configuration of subframes. Numerous other aspects are provided.
