Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that a network configuration procedure has failed a threshold number of times for a first radio access technology (RAT). The UE may perform a first action to prevent execution of the network configuration procedure until a timer has elapsed based at least in part on determining that the network configuration procedure has failed the threshold number of times. The first action may include transmitting a message that indicates that the UE does not have a capability to communicate using the first RAT, barring a cell or a tracking area of the first RAT or a second RAT that assists with establishing a radio access network connection for the first RAT, and/or refraining from reporting measurement results for the first RAT. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
Device wakeups can consume a significant amount of power with respect to the device's total power battery lifetime. Aspects of a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are presented herein that provide a solution to the problem of battery strain by improving the manner in which a wireless device coordinates device wakeup for multiple applications or multiple operations. An apparatus receives a wakeup time interval from each of a plurality of applications. The apparatus forms a first device wakeup time interval, the first device wakeup time interval including overlapping wakeup time intervals for the plurality of applications. The apparatus schedules a device wakeup during at least the first device wakeup time interval.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided for receiving encrypted positioning assistance data, requesting and obtaining cipher keys to decrypt the positioning assistance data. An example method for transmitting a cipher key request includes receiving cipher key information including a start time value, a duration value, and an advance time value, determining an advance time duration that is equal to a sum of the start time value and the duration value minus the advance time value, and transmitting the cipher key request within the advance time duration.
Abstract:
A method determines whether a user equipment (UE) has transitioned between an international area and a national area. The method triggers PLMN selection in response to the UE having transitioned between the international area and the national area.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may detect, while operating in an out-of-service (OOS) mode associated with a first network, that a second network satisfies one or more switching criteria. The UE may increase a time duration associated with a periodic network acquisition scan associated with the first network based at least in part on detecting that the second network satisfies the one or more switching criteria. The UE may switch, while operating in the OOS mode, from using the first network for connectivity to using the second network for connectivity based at least in part on detecting that the second network satisfies the one or more switching criteria. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) includes determining whether the UE transitioned between an international area and a national area. The method also includes triggering a public land mobile network (PLMN) selection of a network for receiving service, in response to the UE having transitioned between the international area and the national area. A method of wireless communication by a UE includes performing a PLMN search for a higher priority PLMN. The method also includes determining a list of candidate PLMNs based on the search. The method further includes selecting a PLMN from among the list of candidate PLMNs in response to an identity of a serving PLMN not being a shared mobile country code (MCC). The candidate PLMNs have either an MCC the same as an identity of the serving PLMN or a shared MCC. The selected PLMN has a higher priority than the serving PLMN.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices of the various aspects may enable a mobile communication device to make a second emergency call attempt in a packet switched (PS) domain in response to determining that a first emergency call attempt in a PS domain failed. The various aspects may enable a second emergency call attempt in a PS domain without requiring the mobile communication device to attempt an emergency call in a circuit switched (CS) domain in response to determining that a first emergency call attempt in a PS domain failed.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be an eMBMS middleware. The apparatus receives a request to activate reception of an eMBMS service. The apparatus receives a request for a segment associated with the eMBMS service. The apparatus determines whether the segment of the eMBMS service is available at the eMBMS middleware. The apparatus fetches the segment from the unicast server if the segment is not available at the eMBMS middleware.
Abstract:
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may perform, while camped on a cell of a first radio access technology (RAT), a search for closed access group (CAG) cells of a second RAT different from the first RAT. The UE may populate a database based at least in part on the search, wherein populating the database includes associating the cell of the first RAT with one or more of the CAG cells of the second RAT. The UE may perform a reselection process from the cell of the first RAT to a first CAG cell of the second RAT, of the one or more CAG cells of the second RAT. Numerous other aspects are described.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may use the techniques described herein to reattempt a video telephony (VT) call after receiving a rejection message indicating that a prior attempt at the VT call failed. In some cases, the UE may have a first configuration indicating that the UE is to redial VT calls exclusively using packet-switched (PS) networks. In other cases, the UE may have a second configuration indicating that the UE is to switch to a circuit-switched (CS) network after one or more failed attempts at the VT call using PS networks. In any case, once the UE receives a rejection message in response to a prior attempt at a VT call, the UE may reattempt the VT call based on a rejection cause in the rejection message and whether the UE has the first configuration or the second configuration.
