Abstract: In general, aspects disclosed herein provide techniques for processing video data. Certain aspects provide a method for processing video data comprising a plurality of frames for display on a display as discussed herein. The method includes determining a sampling rate (N) based on a frame rate used for displaying the video data on the display. The sampling rate N is greater than 1. The method further includes, for every N frames of the plurality of frames, processing one or more statistics associated with a frame determine one or more display settings. The method further includes outputting to the display the corresponding N frames of the plurality of frames using the one or more display settings.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for video processing. In one aspect, the device may obtain a video stream with a plurality of frames. The device can also map, for each frame of the plurality of frames, a first luminance level associated with the frame to a second luminance level based on a transfer function. In some aspects, the transfer function can also include a first function for a first luminance level range and a second function for a second luminance level range, the first function being non-linear and the second function being polynomial. Additionally, the device can indicate, for each frame of the plurality frames, the second luminance level within the video stream. Moreover, the transfer function can include a third function for a third luminance level range, wherein the third function may be between the first and second functions.

Abstract: A method of content compression including receiving a first block of samples including at least a first sample and a second sample, calculating a predictor value for the first block of samples, calculating a residual between the predictor value and the first sample, quantizing the residual to generate a quantized residual, de-quantizing the quantized residual to generate a de-quantized residual, reconstructing the first sample using the de-quantized residual and the predictor value to generate a first reconstructed sample, calculating an error value based on the first sample and the first reconstructed sample, and modifying the second sample by the error value.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for display stream compression pixel format extension using subpixel packing are disclosed. In one aspect, the method involves packing pixel values arranged in an O-channel format for encoding by an M-channel codec. The method may further involve receiving a set of input pixel values, each input pixel value including O input subpixel values arranged in the O-channel format. The method may involve rearranging each of the input subpixel values into a set of output pixel values, each set of output pixel values comprising M output subpixel values arranged in an M-channel format, O having a greater value than M, wherein at least a portion of the rearranged M output subpixels maintain their relative spatial positioning from prior to being rearranged from the O input subpixel values. The method may also involve providing the output pixel values to the M-channel codec.
