Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to buffer/memory management for multi-connectivity in a wireless communication network are provided. A wireless communication device transmits a first portion of a plurality of data packets using a first radio access technology (RAT). The wireless communication device transmits a second portion of the plurality of data packets using a second RAT different from the first RAT. The wireless communication device stores at least some of the plurality of data packets in a memory pending an acknowledgement (ACK) indication associated with at least a first data packet of the plurality of data packets. The wireless communication device determines a transmission configuration for at least the first data packet and a second data packet based on whether a threshold occupancy of the memory is satisfied. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a message that indicates a change from an evolved universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) to a New Radio (NR) PDCP, wherein the message includes an instruction to perform an intra-cell handover; generate one or more security keys based at least in part on receiving the message that includes the instruction to perform the intra-cell handover; and communicate using the one or more security keys after the intra-cell handover is performed. Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for reducing user equipment (UE) capability information message size. A method for wireless communications by a UE is provided. The UE sends a first UE capability information message to a base station (BS) including a first set of UE capability information. The UE sends at least a second UE capability information message to the BS subsequent to sending the first UE capability information message including a second set of UE capability information. The second set of UE capability information does not include one or more UE capabilities included in the first set of UE capability information. The BS receives the first and second UE capability information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that a number of access stratum (AS) operations or communications have failed while attempting to communicate with a cell. Based on the AS failures, the UE may deprioritize the cell. For example, based on the deprioritization, the UE may bar certain cells from selection or reselection procedures. The UE may thus attempt to select or reselect a different cell even if the cell is ranked lower based on a selection criteria or reselection criteria. In some cases, UEs may store and share historical AS failure information that may also be used to determine when to deprioritize a cell. In some cases, a group of cells may be deprioritized (e.g., a group based on frequency, network, or tracking area).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a control message indicating a resource configuration for uplink and downlink transmissions. The UE may determine an uplink buffer threshold for a modem buffer of the UE based on the resource configuration. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a feedback request message requesting that the base station provide feedback for at least one previously transmitted uplink packet based on a comparison of an amount of previously transmitted uplink data and scheduled uplink data stored in the modem buffer relative to the uplink buffer threshold. The UE may receive, based on transmitting the feedback request message, a feedback response message corresponding to a first previously transmitted uplink packet of the at least one previously transmitted uplink packet.

The buffer may be a layer two buffer and the protocol layer may be a layer two protocol layer. In some cases, the UE may transmit the indication of the identified size capability in a UE capability report in radio resource control signaling. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described to support entering a fast-negative acknowledgement (NACK) mode. A user equipment (UE) may enter a fast-NACK mode and may decrease a value of a respective timer for one or more wireless connections (e.g., may override the timer independently for each connection). The timer may be referred to as a retransmission request time duration. If configured with two or more component carriers (CCs), the UE may determine a value of the timer based on a location of a data hole within the two or more CCs. Based on entering the fast-NACK mode, the UE may override a configured timer for the respective wireless connection with a new, shorter timer. Based on expiration of the new timer, the UE may transmit an RLC NACK to a base station via the corresponding wireless connection.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A receiving device may receive, at a first operational layer of the receiving device, one or more protocol data units (PDUs) within a set of PDUs. The receiving device may identify, at a second operational layer of the receiving device, a sequence gap associated with a missing PDU from the set of PDUs, the first operational layer being a lower operational layer of the receiving device than the second operational layer. The receiving device may determine, at the second operational layer, that a triggering condition associated with the missing PDU has occurred. The receiving device may provide, by the second operational layer and based at least in part on the triggering condition occurring, an indication to update a reception buffer of the first operational layer to a last received protocol data unit of the set of PDUs.
