    Abstract: Techniques for determining a position of a mobile device are provided. A method according to these techniques includes obtaining assistance data comprising information for cells associated with a plurality of wireless transmitters of a wireless communications network based on the coarse location of the mobile device, selecting a plurality of the cells from the assistance data, wherein selecting the plurality of cells includes identifying sets of colocated cells and selecting one cell from each of the colocated sets of cells; measuring signals from the plurality of cells to generate positioning signal measurements; and sending the positioning signal measurements to a location server. A colocated set of cells may include a narrowband cell and a non-narrowband cell, and the narrowband wireless cell may comprise a narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) cell and a non-narrowband cell colocated with the NB-IoT cell at an Evolved Node B (eNodeB).

    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for improving performance of a touchscreen device. In an aspect, the touchscreen device receives a selection of an application or function based on a user touching a portion of a touchscreen display of the touchscreen device that includes an icon representing the application or function, collects biometric data of the user based on the user touching the portion of the touchscreen display, and determines whether the user is authorized to access the application or function based on the biometric data. In an aspect, the touchscreen device detects that a portion of the touchscreen display is unresponsive to user touch input, and in response to the detection, moves at least one icon displayed on the unresponsive portion of the touchscreen display to a portion of the touchscreen display that is responsive to user touch input.

    Abstract: Disclosed are devices and processes for processing portions of a downlink signal using multiple receive chains. In one implementation, while message traffic is received at two or more receive chains of a receiver device, an inactivity timing may be initiated following a most recent activity event at the receiver device. Responsive to a request to acquire a portion of a downlink signal at the receiver device following initiation of the inactivity timer, at least one of the two or more receive chains may be scheduled to acquire the portion of the downlink signal. Other, unscheduled receive chains may be transitioned to a lower power state upon expiration of the inactivity timer.

    Abstract: A method for performing inter-frequency positioning measurements on positioning signals periodically transmitted by at least some of a plurality of cells in a wireless communication network is provided. The method includes receiving, at a mobile device, assistance data that identifies a first neighbor cell the plurality of cells, where the first neighbor cell transmits a first positioning signal. The method also includes obtaining a first cell property of the first neighbor cell. The mobile device then adjusts a duration of a first measurement gap in response to the first cell property. In one aspect, the first measurement gap corresponds to a time period during which the mobile device is to perform positioning measurements of the first positioning signal.

Many technologies have been developed to keeping private messages secure while being transmitted from the sender to the receiver. However, the privacy of the messages can be compromised by notifications of the messages at the receiver. For example, a third party may see a visual notification of private text message displayed on a receiving device, such as a smart phone. Provided herein is an apparatus that receives a message, determines a privacy level of the message, selects a mode of notification of the message based on the determined privacy level of the message, and performs a notification action based on the selected mode of notification.

    Abstract: Techniques to maximize connectivity to a preferred radio access technology (RAT) (e.g., 5G NR) over a less preferred RAT (e.g., 4G LTE) are disclosed. When a user equipment (UE) is camped on a preferred RAT connectivity capable cell (e.g., NR cell, EUTRA dual-connectivity (ENDC) cell), offsets or biases may be applied to delay triggering of a cell reselection. When UE is camped on a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell, offset(s) may be applied to accelerate triggering of the cell reselection. When cell reselection is triggered, offsets or biases may be applied to favor reselection to preferred RAT connectivity capable cell over a non-preferred RAT connectivity capable cell.
