Abstract: Certain example embodiments provide systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for determining radio frequency (RF) conditions using sensing information. A network node may construct a map of RF conditions associated with location information within its coverage area. The network node may configure a radio resource control (RRC)-connected UE to operate in an RF sensing mode. The network node may obtain a positioning of the UE from a sensing node. The network node may determine the RF conditions of the UE based on its position using the map.

Abstract: A method includes receiving positioning configuration information from a base station or location server while in an RRC_connected mode; transitioning to an RRC_idle or RRC_inactive mode, while saving the positioning configuration information; receiving a reference signal for positioning from the base station; performing positioning measurements, while in the RRC_idle or RRC_inactive mode; and sending a location report to the base station or location server while remaining in the RRC_idle or RRC_inactive mode. A related method includes sending positioning configuration information to a user equipment in an RRC_connected mode; sending the user equipment to RRC_idle or RRC_inactive mode by an RRC suspend procedure; sending a reference signal for positioning to the user equipment; receiving a location report from the user equipment in the RRC_idle or RRC_inactive mode; and forwarding the location report from the user equipment to a location server.

Abstract: A UE in a wireless network receives measurement configuration for group(s) of cells wherein the measurement configuration is for positioning measurements of the UE using signals from base station(s). The UE performs, using at least the measurement configuration, positioning measurements of the group(s) of cells and sends a report that is triggered based at least on the criteria. A network element sends the measurement configuration for the group(s) of cells to the UE. The network element sends the criteria based on the measurement configuration for the UE to trigger the report(s) for the one or more groups of cells. The network element receives a report from the UE that was triggered based at least on the criteria. Methods, software, computer program products, and apparatus are disclosed.

One method may include receiving, by a UE configured with power saving feature(s), positioning performance requirements for a positioning session. The method may also include estimating an impact of one or more power saving or reduced capability features on positioning measurements associated with the positioning session and, based on the accuracy and latency requirements and the estimated impact, determining the power saving or reduced capability features that the UE can implement while still achieving the accuracy and latency requirements for the positioning session. The method may then include signaling, to a network node, information on the determined power saving or reduced capability features that the UE can implement while still achieving the required accuracy and latency requirements for the positioning session.
