Communication systems may benefit from appropriate measurements of transmitters. For example, certain communication systems using dual connectivity may benefit from network controlled and deployment based increased primary cell measurements. A method can include configuring, by a network element, a user equipment to perform measurements on both a master cell group and a secondary cell group, according to activity in the secondary cell group.

A network node in a wireless network sends a selected BWP toward a UE, the selected BWP to be used by the UE during a connection procedure used to connect the UE to the wireless network after the UE enters an idle or inactive state. The selected BWP is different from an initial BWP that would have been used by the UE during the connection procedure. The network node receives from the user equipment a message for connection to the wireless network using the selected BWP. The UE receives the selected BWP and uses the selected BWP to send, while in one of an idle state or an inactive state, a message for connection to the wireless network using the selected BWP (e.g., and not the initial BWP).

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for beamforming control. In some example embodiments, there may be provided a method. The method may include providing, by a user equipment configured to include a plurality of antenna panels, capability information to a base station, the capability information including antenna panel information regarding the plurality of antenna panels; and providing, by the user equipment, antenna panel usage information to the base station, the antenna panel usage information indicative of which of the plurality of antenna panels are in at least one of an active transmit state or an active receive state. Systems, apparatuses, and methods of beam reporting for rank enhancement are provided. One method may include defining an enhanced beam reporting criteria for user equipment (UE) beam reporting. The enhanced beam reporting criteria may be used for transmission rank enhancement. Abstract:
Various communication systems may benefit from improved cell selection. For example, it may be helpful to improve cell selection in new radio systems based on individual synchronization signal blocks meeting specific thresholds. A method may include measuring at a user equipment a cell quality of one or more cells. The method may also include detecting at the user equipment synchronization signal blocks in the one or more cells. In addition, the method may include determining at the user equipment that the synchronization signal blocks do not meet a random access channel resource selection threshold. Further, the method may include selecting at the user equipment only random access channel resources that correspond to the synchronization signal blocks meeting a cell selection threshold.
