    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for RRM measurement in the NR network. In one novel aspect, the RRM measurement is configured with one measurement gap for SS block and CSI-RS. In one embodiment, an extended MGL (eMGL) is configured such that the SS block and CSI-RS is measurement within one measurement gap. In another embodiment, the shorter MGL (sMGL) that is shorter than the standard MGL is configured. In another novel aspect, the CSI-RS is allocated adjacent to the SS blocks such that one measurement gap is configured for both the SS block and CSI-RS measurement. In another novel aspect, the CSI-RS measurement is conditionally configured. In yet another novel aspect, the UE decodes the time index of the SS block conditionally.

    Abstract: A UE determines a respective set of subcarriers from N subcarriers in each OFDM symbol of M1 consecutive OFDM symbols within a slot. The respective set of subcarriers carries a respective set of SRSs that form transmission combs of a transmission comb size. The respective set of subcarriers in one of the M1 consecutive OFDM symbols do not overlap in frequency domain with the respective set of subcarriers in any other one of the M1 consecutive OFDM symbols. The UE applies the respective set of phase rotations to the respective set of SRSs in each OFDM symbol to obtain a cyclic shift. The UE maps the respective set of SRSs applied with phase rotations to the respective set of subcarriers in each OFDM symbol. The UE transmits the respective sets of SRSs in the M OFDM symbols.

    Abstract: A method of two-layer (Rank=2) demodulation reference signal (DMRS) based transmission scheme is proposed. The precoding matrix on a data RE can be represented as A×B. The precoding matrix on the UE-specific reference signal DMRS is A. Matrix B is the co-phasing cycling matrix. By applying the proposed co-phasing cycling matrix B for Rank=2 DMRS-based transmission scheme, the ratio of PDSCH EPRE to DMRS EPRE is equal to 0 dB, as required by the LTE specification. Further, when the DMRS power follows the precoding matrix A, UE channel estimation performance is improved.

    Abstract: Methods to support measurements for LTE user equipments are proposed. Due to reduced bandwidth design for cost reduction, resources for UEs are limited to contiguous six physical resource block (PRB) pairs (1.4 MHz). Six or less contiguous PRBs per narrow sub-band located in the whole channel bandwidth is allocated for transmission and reception for UEs. Novel control channel and data channel designs are proposed to make UEs be able to camp on LTE cells. Methods for intra-frequency measurement, for received signal time difference (RSTD) measurement, and for channel quality assessment for UEs are also provided. In one embodiment, UE is allocated with a measurement gap for intra-frequency measurements and RSTD measurements. In another embodiment, UE is configured with a frequency-hopping pattern and receives a PRB pair starting index per subframe for CSI measurement.
