摘要: A lighting device for a discharge lamp includes a power supplying circuit for supplying electric power to the discharge lamp. A current sensing circuit is operative for sensing a lamp current which flows through the discharge lamp. A control circuit is operative for enabling the power supplying circuit to supply one of a direct-current electric power and a low-frequency electric power to the discharge lamp during a time interval in start of the discharge lamp. The control circuit is also operative for adjusting a duration time of supply of a one-polarity electric power to the discharge lamp in accordance with a magnitude of the lamp current sensed by the current sensing circuit. Further, the control circuit is operative for enabling the power supplying circuit to supply an alternating-current electric power to the discharge lamp after the time interval elapses.

摘要: An image testing device captures an image of a test object using a TV camera and raster-scans the image to search the test object for a scratch or spot. The device protects its test precision from being deteriorated by lowered brightness of an illuminator and properly maintains the illuminator by outputting an alarm on detecting a lowering of the illuminator. To realize the capabilities of the image testing device, it comprises a brightness measure circuit, a general determination circuit, etc. The brightness measure circuit receives a multivalued gray image signal or image data from the frame memory through a switching unit, obtains an average value of picture elements in a brightness measure area in a test object image, and outputs it as a measured brightness signal. The general determination circuit corrects, in proportion to a measured brightness a binarization threshold for use in detecting a picture element indicating a defect. When the measured brightness is smaller than its threshold more frequently than a predetermined number of times, the general determination circuit outputs an abnormal brightness occurrence signal.

摘要: An improved anti-skid system for a vehicle which effectively utilizes an approximated slip ratio between vehicle or body velocity and wheel velocity to generate a brake release signal for a brake release valve but without actually utilizing a vehicle or body velocity detector. Storage apparatus is used to store a reference signal representing vehicle velocity but actually corresponding to a present or just past maximum value of wheel velocity. Control apparatus is then utilized for removing energy from the storage apparatus at a controlled predetermined rate chosen to approximate the expected vehicle deceleration (but without using an actual vehicle or body deceleration detector) such that the reference signal (capacitor voltage) will continue to accurately represent approximate vehicle velocities even during periods of deceleration. Various exemplary embodiments are described for the control apparatus which may be used to hold the discharge rate constant, to change it from a first low rate to a second high rate during brake release (for compensating inherent time lags in the vehicle brake system) and/or to continuously change the rate in an inverse dependency upon wheel deceleration to even more closely approximate actual vehicle deceleration under variable road conditions. Other features of the improved system may be used to result in rapid oscillatory brake releases as a transition both before and after a more prolonged brake release period to provide for smoother operation of the anti-skid system. Spurious influences of any A.C. ripple components on the detected wheel velocity signal may also be substantially eliminated by using some of the features of this system.

摘要: A discharge lamp driver circuit is provided which features a field canceller. The driver circuit includes a power supply circuit which turns on and off a switching element to step up a dc voltage and provide it for turning on a discharge lamp. The power supply circuit includes an electrical path through which an interrupted current arising from the on-off operation of the switching element flows. The field canceller includes an electric line through which the interrupted current having passed through the electrical path flows in an opposite direction, thereby producing a field canceling a field caused by flow of the interrupted current through the electrical path.

摘要: An AC power generating apparatus for lighting a discharge lamp has a smoothing circuit with an electrolytic capacitor therein for smoothing ripples included in a DC voltage supplied from a power source. The apparatus further has a switching device and a transformer for transforming a smoothed voltage by turning on and off application of the smoothed voltage to the transformer thereby to supply AC electric power for activating a discharge lamp. A capacitor is connected in parallel with the electrolytic capacitor. This parallel capacitor is located inside an area surrounded by the transformer, the switching device and the electrolytic capacitor to reduce a circuit area where electromagnetic radiation noise is generated.

摘要: In a discharge bulb control, a time constant circuit comprised of a capacitor and a resistor is used to determine an electric power to be supplied to a discharge bulb. During a warm-up period of the discharge bulb, the capacitor is charged to produce a voltage which varies, toward a predetermined voltage, with an electric current flowing thereto so that the electric power is increased gradually. After the warm-up control, the time constant for charging the capacitor is reduced to maintain the capacitor voltage at the predetermined voltage. Even with the current leakage occurring in the capacitor after the warm-up control, the electric power is controlled by the predetermined voltage which is not influenced by the current leakage. Thus, the electric power applied to the discharge bulb after the warm-up control can advantageously be maintained at the required level.
