摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a charging member for contacting a peripheral surface of the image bearing member to electrically charge the peripheral surface; a first developing device for forming a first developed image on the peripheral surface of the image bearing member charged by the charging member; a second developing device for forming a second developed image on the peripheral surface, wherein a combined developed image is formed by superimposing the first developed image and the second developed image on a common transfer material, wherein when the combined image is being formed, the charging member is cleaned by transferring, by an electric field, material deposited on the charging member to a region between the first developed image and the second developed image on the peripheral surface of the image bearing member, and wherein the first developed image and the second developed image are not formed in the region.

In the gear-shifting device, the shift arm 53 has heteromorphous cams at its contacting part, which is in contact with the 1st-2nd speed shift piece 41, and the heteromorphous cams are designed in a compound arc figure, which comprises a plurality of combined arcs having different curvature radii. As a result, while the shift arm 53 is rotating in correspondence to the shift operation, the distance between the contacting part and the rotational axis of the shift arm 53 varies to change the leverage effective between the change-lever L and the contacting part.

摘要： A recycling method is for a developer supply unit for supplying a developer to developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive member. The developer supply unit is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus and includes a developer accommodating portion for accommodating the developer, a developer supply port for supplying the developer to the developing means and a feeding member for feeding the developer to the developer supply port from the developer accommodating portion. The method includes an injection step of injecting the developer through the developer supply port; and driving step of driving the feeding member in a direction for feeding the developer from the developer supply port to the developer accommodating portion, by which the developer is fed from the developer supply port to fill the developer accommodating portion with the developer.

摘要： A cartridge is detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The cartridge includes a developer accommodating portion, a developer supply port supplying the developer to a developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a removable sealing tape sealing the developer supply port, and a covering member taking an opening position for opening the port and a closing position for closing the port and to which one longitudinal end of the tape is fixed, the covering member being effective to cover the tape sealing the port when it is at the closing position, and cartridge locking portion for locking the covering member at the closing position. When the cartridge is mounted to the main assembly of the apparatus, locking between the cartridge locking portion and the covering member is released by engagement between the covering member and the main assembly, and the covering member moves from the closing to the opening position, and the tape is removed from the port to open the port.
