Abstract: The problem of being unable to run microBFD using an IPv6 address over any member links of a layer 2 LAG when the LAG is DOWN (and its IPv6 address becomes or is TENTATIVE), is solved by running DAD for the address configured for the microBFD once the individual link is in DISTRIBUTING or STANDBY state and triggering (or starting) microBFD once the DAD for that address completes successfully. Further, member links of the LAG may be permitted to continue running microBFD even if the LAG interface is DOWN and even if some other member links (but not all member links) of the LAG are DOWN.

Abstract: A network device in a network may determine a tentative network address for a network interface of the network device and may determine whether the tentative network address is duplicative of any one of the network addresses in the network. If the tentative network address is duplicative of a network address assigned to another network interface in the network, the network device may store an indication of the other network interface. In response to receiving an indication that a new network address is assigned to the other network interface, the network device may re-determine whether the tentative network address is duplicative of any one of the network addresses in the network. If the network device determines that the tentative network address is not duplicative of any one of the plurality of network addresses in the network, the network device may assign the tentative network address to the network interface.

Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method may include (1) receiving, at a source node, a request to discover a plurality of network paths that each lead from the source node to a destination node and (2) discovering the plurality of network paths by (A) identifying each next hop between the source node and the destination node, (B) sending, from the source node to each next hop, a path-request probe that prompts the next hop to (i) determine each next-closest hop and (ii) return, to the source node, a path-response probe that identifies the next-closest hops, (C) receiving the path-response probes from the next hops, (D) determining, at the source node based on the path-response probes, that one or more of the plurality of network paths include the next hops and the next-closest hops, and then (E) iteratively discovering any subsequent hops by sending a subsequent path-request probe to each next-closest hop.

Abstract: A disclosed method may include (1) providing a network stack that includes both a native stack and a proprietary stack, (2) implementing at least one socket that represents an endpoint of a communication channel between a network device and a computing device, (3) identifying at least one packet to be forwarded from the network device to the computing device via the socket, (4) configuring the network stack such that (A) the native stack discovers a maximum transmission unit of a network path between the network device and the computing device in connection with the socket and (B) the proprietary stack fragments the packet into a plurality of segments that each comply with the maximum transmission unit of the network path, and then (5) forwarding, along the network path, the segments to the computing device.
