Abstract:
A barrier for isolating the dark correction pixels from spurious charges within an image sensor. The barrier comprises a charge absorbing region in a substrate electrically connected to a voltage source terminal. The charge absorbing region completely surrounds the dark correction region of a pixel array. The charge absorbing region absorbs carriers generated by lateral diffusion, near-infrared and infrared light reflected from the bottom of the silicon substrate, and other sources. This absorbing region prevents carriers from being absorbed into the dark correction pixel cells and causing image correction distorting effects.
Abstract:
An active handoff system and method of a dual mode terminal capable of connecting to a wireless network, such as wireless local area network (LAN), and a mobile communication system are provided. The handoff method includes the steps of assigning, at a packet data service node of the mobile communication system, an IP address to the dual mode terminal connected to the service network, establishing, at the packet data service node, a tunneling path to the wireless LAN when the dual mode terminal moves from the mobile communication network to the wireless LAN, and disconnecting, at the packet data service node, the tunneling path to the wireless LAN, and establishing a tunneling path to another packet data service node whose Internet Protocol (IP) address has been established by the packet data service node, when the dual mode terminal moves from the wireless LAN to the mobile communication system. A dual mode terminal that moves from a 3G mobile communication system to a wireless network in an active state maintains an existing IP address assigned from an active 3G mobile communication system so that the dual mode terminal can maintain an upper layer session and transmit an IP packet to a terminal located in a 3G mobile communication system.

An anti-eclipse circuit of an image pixel includes a clamping circuit for pulling up a voltage of a reset signal output by the pixel and an eclipse detection circuit for controllably coupling the clamping circuit output to the output of the pixel. The clamping circuit includes a source follower transistor and a switching transistor. The eclipse detection circuit includes a comparator that is operated to detect an eclipse condition. The eclipse detection circuit outputs a control signal to cause the switching transistor to conduct only when a eclipse condition is detected while the pixel is outputting a reset signal.

A method for quantization of a color histogram bin value of an image or video, and more particularly, a method for non-uniform quantization of a color histogram bin value of an image (or video) according to the frequency of color occurrence is provided. The methods effectively represent the characteristics of a color histogram of an image in comparison to conventional art, and improve the performance of image retrieval when an image (video) retrieval search is conducted.
Abstract:
A system and method for a mosaic rendering of a 3D model is provided. Textures are created using polygon information related to a vertex of each face of an inputted 3D model, a normal, and a face index, and the textures are one-to-one mapped on respective polygons of the 3D model, using a geometrical structure of the 3D mode, thereby rendering a mosaic image showing a volume and a crinkled effect of paper.

An electron emission display capable of controlling brightness to correspond to the emission ratio of a pixel unit so as to improve contrast, prevent voltage overshoots and prevent excess power consumption. The electron emission display includes a pixel unit that displays an image that corresponds to the voltages of first and second electrodes, a data driver that receives video data and generates and transmits the data signals to the first electrode, a scan driver that transmits scan signals to the second electrode, a data processing unit that reduces the brightness of an image based on the emission ratio for the frame, and a power source supply unit that generates and outputs the driving power source. The power source supply unit changes the voltage of the driving power source from a first voltage into a second voltage in small increments when the difference between the second and the first voltage is large.

Disclosed is a method for preparing a mixed formulation of sustained release microspheres with various compositions by a continuous one-step process. The present method is characterized by preparing the mixed formulation of sustained release microspheres with different compositions by a continuous one-step process by continuously introducing the mixed fluids into a dryer from the two or more different fluids for preparation of sustained release microspheres containing a biodegradable polymer, a drug, an additive and a solvent with different types of contents or both of the components, by controlling the mixing ratios of the fluids according to the time, unlike a conventional method including spray-drying a mixture of microspheres containing a biodegradable polymer, a drug, an additive and a solvent with a single composition. The present method can achieve a desired drug release, which is difficult to be obtained by conventional microspheres with a single composition, by preparing microspheres by a continuous one-step process, and can simplify the conventional complex process of separately preparing several microsphere formulations and then mixing the formulations at a proper ratio to achieve a desired drug release.

A substrate bonding apparatus and a substrate bonding method apply pressure according to the size of upper and lower substrates when the upper and lower substrates are bonded. The apparatus includes: an upper pressing unit having an upper plate to press an upper substrate, and a first presser to drive the upper plate to press the upper substrate; and a lower pressing unit placed under the upper pressing unit and having a lower plate that supports a lower substrate to be affixed to the upper substrate and presses the lower substrate, and a second presser to drive the lower plate to press the lower substrate. The apparatus can be used in bonding various-sized substrates, e.g., when relatively large-sized substrates are bonded, a lower substrate is pressed upward without causing sagging of an upper substrate, and when relatively small-sized substrates are bonded, an upper substrate is pressed with gas.

Embodiments of a video telecommunication system are provided that can obtain a background scene desired by a user by automatically changing a background scene into a different background scene. The system can include a background picture synthesis unit and a background scene separation unit that can separate an object to be transmitted and a background scene except for the object in a picture in a process of transmitting/receiving data including at least the picture. A background picture database can provide a background picture to be transmitted instead of the background scene. The background picture synthesis unit can synthesize the separated object and a new background picture (e.g., selected from the background picture database). A picture transmission unit can transmit a synthesized picture synthesized by the separated object and the new background picture.
