Abstract: A method for estimating transmitted signals transmitted from a plurality of transmitters, the method comprising: simultaneously receiving at each of a plurality of receivers a respective received signal resulting from the transmitted signals; determining for each receiver a set of equation coefficients; forming for each received signal a characterisation of that received signal composed of elements weighted in accordance with the equation coefficients determined for the receiver at which that received signal was received; and processing the characterisations to estimate the transmitted signals; wherein the equation coefficients are determined such that the characterisations are substantially linearly independent.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a random access scheme exhibiting a non-isometric frame duration and a low latency. The RA and data messages have a duration with a different time unit and the time slot of the RA message is much shorter than the duration of one data frame. A specific signature, which is designed to be robust against the collisions, is transmitted during the RA request, the signature being either a unique sequence or a compressed signature. The user equipment device transmits the data message immediately after receiving its resource through a frame structure showing a time misalignment between adjacent data frames located in different or identical frequency sub-bands. A frequency guard band is inserted between its resource and an adjacent resource assigned to another user equipment device, the frequency guard band having an adaptive size according to the level of time misalignment and its impact on the distortion.

Abstract: A method for executing multipath communication at a target communication device, includes obtaining, from a source communication device, plurality of data packets via two or more different paths, where header of each data packet comprises packet information which is indicative of association among the plurality of data packets. The packet information in each data packet at source communication device is same as packet information in each data packet at target communication device irrespective of different radio access technologies, communication protocols, or radio links used in the two or more different paths. The plurality of data packets includes different data packets having different payload or duplicate data packets having a copy of same payload. The method further includes identifying first set of data packets received via first path and second set of data packets received via second path based on the packet information.

Abstract: A device is provided for operating in a communication system that comprises a plurality of individual networks. The device comprises one or more subscriber modules for assisting the device to attach to a network. The number of those one or more subscriber modules is fewer than the number of the plurality of networks. The device being configured to initiate a pre-attach procedure to attach itself to all of the plurality of networks before it establishes a connection with one of those networks. It is also configured to connect to one of the plurality of networks for communicating data with that network while remaining attached to the others of the plurality of networks. The advantage of a device that pre-attaches to more than one network is that it significantly reduces the time needed for the device to switch later from being connected to one network to another network.
