Abstract:
A three-dimensional multiple spiral antenna includes a substrate, a plurality of spiral antenna sections, and a feed point module. The substrate has a three-dimensional shaped region and each spiral antenna section is supported by a corresponding section of the three-dimensional shaped region and conforms to the corresponding section of the three-dimensional shaped region such that, collectively, the spiral antenna sections have an overall shape approximating a three-dimensional shape. The feed point module is coupled to a connection point of at least one of the spiral antenna sections.

An antenna assembly includes a substrate, a plurality of spiral dipole antenna sections, and a phase array feeder. The substrate has a three-dimensional shaped region. Each of the spiral dipole antenna sections is supported by a corresponding section of the three-dimensional shaped region and conforms to the corresponding section of the three-dimensional shaped region such that, collectively, the plurality of spiral dipole antenna sections has an overall shape approximating a three-dimensional shape. The spiral dipole antenna sections are coupled together in accordance with a coupling configuration for beamforming and/or power combining. The phase array feeder inputs, or outputs, a phase offset representations of a radio frequency (RF) signal from, or to, the spiral dipole antenna sections and converts between the phase offset representations of the RF signal and the RF signal.
Abstract:
A receiver includes an antenna array, an angular positioning module, a low noise amplifier module, and a down conversion module. The antenna array is operable to receive an inbound wireless signal. The angular positioning module is operable to: receive a plurality of received inbound wireless signals from the antenna array. An angular position of a source of the inbound wireless signal is determined from at least some of the plurality of received inbound wireless signals based on a first radiation pattern and a second radiation pattern of the plurality of received inbound wireless signals; and output a representation of the inbound wireless signal. The low noise amplifier module is operably coupled to amplify the representation of the inbound wireless signal to produce an amplified inbound wireless signal. The down conversion module is operably coupled to convert the amplified inbound wireless signal into a baseband or near baseband signal.
Abstract:
An integrated radar system includes a processing module and a radar device. The radar device includes an antenna module, a configurable shaping module, and a configurable transceiver module. The processing module generates an outbound signal and a control signal to configure the integrated radar system. The configured transceiver module converts the outbound signal into an outbound wireless signal. The configured shaping module shapes the outbound wireless signal into a shaped signal. The antenna module transmits the shaped signal and then receives an inbound radar signal. The configured shaping module shapes the inbound radar signal into an inbound wireless signal. The configured transceiver module converts the inbound wireless signal into an inbound symbol stream. The processing module determines location information regarding an object based on the inbound symbol stream.
Abstract:
A three-dimensional antenna structure includes first and second antenna components connected by one or more vias. The first antenna component is on a first layer of a substrate and the second antenna component is on a second layer of a substrate. The via couples the first antenna component to the second antenna component, wherein the first antenna overlaps, from a radial perspective, the second antenna component by an angle of overlap. Third and fourth antenna components are similarly constructed and connected. The antenna components can be formed in a modified Polya curve pattern within a geometric shape.

A multiple antenna apparatus includes a substrate, a first antenna structure, and a second antenna structure. The first antenna structure includes a first metal trace that has a first pattern confined in a first geometric shape and has a near-zero electric field plane. The second antenna structure includes a second metal trace that has a first pattern confined to a second geometric shape. The second antenna structure is positioned on the substrate in substantial alignment with the near-zero electric field plane of the first antenna structure.
