    Abstract: Flow cytometers having sample injection needles are provided. The subject flow cytometers include a flow cell for transporting particles in a core stream of a flow stream from a proximal end to a distal end, and a sample injection needle having a passage running therethrough for delivering sample fluid from a sample injection line at a proximal end to the flow cell at a distal end to generate the core stream. Flow cells of interest include a flow cell cone at the proximal end, and sample injection needles of interest are configured and positioned to maintain an intact core stream under flow conditions that vary by a magnitude or more. Methods of assembling the subject flow cytometers and methods of analyzing a sample using the subject flow cytometers are also provided.

    Abstract: Fluidic resistance units are provided. Fluidic resistance units of interest include a plurality of valves and a plurality of resistors, where each resistor in the plurality of resistors is fluidically coupled to and co-located with a different valve in the plurality of valves. In one embodiment, fluidic resistance units include an inlet for receiving fluid, a valve line fluidically coupled to the inlet, a resistor line fluidically coupled to the inlet, a plurality of connectors fluidically coupling the valve line to the resistor line, and an outlet for emitting fluid. Valve lines of interest include a series of fluidically coupled valves, and resistor lines of interest include a series of fluidically coupled resistors. Methods and flow cytometers involving the subject fluidic resistance units are also provided.

    Abstract: Flow cytometers having an enclosed particle sorting module are provided. Aspects of the flow cytometers include, in addition to the enclosed particle sorting modules, a sample input module fluidically coupled to an inlet of the enclosed particle sorting module, a waste reservoir fluidically coupled to first outlet of the enclosed particle sorting module and a first sorted particle collection system fluidically coupled to a second outlet of the enclosed particle sorting module. Flow cytometers as described herein are configured to control aerosol content in the enclosed particle sorting modules, including the sort chambers of such modules. Also provided are methods of using the flow cytometers, as well as kits that include one or more components of the flow cytometers are consumables for use therewith.

    Abstract: Flow cytometers having fiber optic light collectors are provided. Aspects of the subject flow cytometers involve a flow cell configured to transport particles in a core stream, a light source configured to produce a beam for irradiating the particles in the core stream and a fiber optic light collector for receiving particle-modulated light from the irradiated particles and conveying collected light to a detector. In some cases, the fiber optic light collector is optically aligned to the core stream and includes a collection surface having opposing edges running parallel to the direction of the core stream. Methods of analyzing a sample are also provided.

    Abstract: Collection systems for flow cytometrically sorted samples are provided. Aspects of the collection systems include: a collection container having a sort tube configured to be in droplet receiving relationship with a sort block of a flow cytometer; and a sample output operatively coupling a cell collection location of the collection container to a mating connection for a receiving container, such as an evacuated receiving container. Also provided are methods using the collection systems, as well as assemblies and kits including components of the systems.
