Abstract:
A system and method are provided for providing a full service cable television system. The cable system incorporates a digital and analog transmission architecture capable of delivering a high number of high quality television programs, advanced cable services, and online services to a subscriber's home. The cable system comprises a cable headend, at least one fiber transport, at least one distribution hub, at least one hybrid fiber coax plant, and a plurality of set-top terminals. Programs and services are transmitted to the set-top terminals in both digital and analog formats to maintain downward compatibility with existing systems. The set-top terminal incorporates a central processing unit, a unified memory architecture, a memory management unit, communications circuitry, I/O control circuitry, and audio and video output circuitry. Through these components the set-top terminal provides advanced cable services such as a comprehensive channel navigator, an interactive program guide, Impulse Pay-Per-View activation, Near-Video-On-Demand and Video-On-Demand programming, and advanced configuration controls. The set-top terminal also provides online services such as World Wide Web browsing, Internet E-Mail, and Home Shopping.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for pseudo aligned transfers to memory for processors, peripherals and memories. Alignment logic, typically coupled to a peripheral, receives a plurality of data bytes from a processor. The alignment logic uses a control header transferred with the data bytes to determine whether the data bytes require re-alignment. To effect re-alignment, the alignment logic combines, rotates, and masks the data bytes as indicated by the control header.
Abstract:
A fiber optic enclosure cabinet is disclosed having a housing with walls defining an interior. An opening is formed through the housing permitting access to the interior. An access panel is sized to cover the opening and secure it to the housing to selectively cover and expose the opening at an option of an operator. A plurality of platters are disposed within the interior and slidably mounted to extend through the access opening and be completely returned to the interior at an option of an operator. Each of the platters carries an optical fiber splice tray and an optical fiber take-up spool.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system and method for more accurately monitoring and determining pump failure. The apparatus and system include at least a power circuit, a current sensing circuit, alarm circuit and a controller. The controller is connectable to and receives an input from the current sensing circuit. The controller is configured to calculate a baseline operating current, current thresholds and operating conditions affecting the operation of the pump. The alarm circuit is connectable to and receives outputs from the controller, and provides alarm indications corresponding to operating conditions determined by the controller.
Abstract:
An improved interactive network system is provided that allows the Network Operator to control the transfer of information to and from the network end users, the system preferably using triggers or markers embedded within the programming broadcast to users via the network. As a consequence of this system, the Network Operator is able to efficiently garner revenues from third parties transacting business over the network and to control the look and feel of programming offered to network users. Additionally the system can be used as a means of limiting network access, filtering programming, providing on-screen graphics or audible signals for particular programming types or providers, bookmarking programming, profiling network users, targeting advertising, and simplifying network transactions.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting data in a node having a buffer. A first set of data is received in a buffer for transmission to a target node. The first set of data is sent to the target node. Responsive to an indication that the target node is unable to receive data, a second set of data is loaded into the buffer for transmission to another target node, while the first set of data is retained in the buffer.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for switching clocks comprising a first circuit, a second circuit, and a third circuit. The first circuit may be configured to generate (i) a first signal in response to a select signal and a first clock signal, (ii) a second signal in response to said first signal and a second clock signal, (iii) a third signal in response to said select signal and said second clock signal, and (iv) a fourth signal in response to said third signal and said first clock signal. The second circuit may be configured to generate a first enable signal and a second enable signal in response to (i) said first signal, (ii) said second signal, (iii) said third signal, and (iv) said fourth signal. The third circuit may be configured to select (i) one or more first input signals, (ii) one or more second input signals, or (iii) a predetermined logic level as one or more output signals in response to said first enable signal and said second enable signal.
