An access point in an optical fiber-based high-speed optical wireless network is disclosed. The access point includes an antenna for receiving communication requirement signals, a switch for selectively outputting a corresponding signal according to the communication requirement signals, a bias control unit for selectively outputting bias current with variable intensity according to whether an output of the signal from the switch exists or not, on the basis of a threshold current; a bias operation unit for outputting input signals to the antenna when an input bias current is smaller than the threshold current and for outputting signals received by the antenna when an input bias current is larger than the predetermined threshold current, and a semiconductor optical amplifier for selectively performing an optical detection function of converting optical signals, which have been received through a first optical fiber from an central station, into electrical signals and sending the converted electrical signals to the bias operation unit, when a current smaller than the threshold current is input to the bias operation unit, and an optical modulation function of transmitting signals output from the bias operation unit through a second optical fiber to the central station, when a current larger than the threshold current is input to the bias operation unit.
Abstract:
A wideband erbium-doped optical fiber amplifier is disposed among an optical fiber through which a first and second band-band optical signals (for example, the C-band and L-band) are transmitted and forms a first optical path and a second optical path parallel to each other. The wideband erbium-doped optical fiber amplifier comprising a first amplifying section disposed on the first optical path, including a first erbium-doped optical fiber to amplify the first-band optical signals, a filter to gain-flatten the amplified first-band optical signals, wherein a reflected portion of the first band optical signal by the filter is directed to the second optical path; and a second amplifying section disposed on the second optical path, having a second erbium-doped optical fiber to amplify received second-band optical signals, wherein the reflected first-band optical signal is used to pump the second erbium-doped optical fiber.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a continuous process for the production of optically pure (S)-β-hydroxy-γ-butyrolactone having constantly maintained optical activity, consisting of hydrogenating 2-50 wt % of a substituted carboxylic acid derivative in a solvent using a fixed bed reactor filled with a precious metal catalyst-impregnated inorganic oxide carrier at 50-500° C. under pressure of 15-5,500 psig at weight-space-velocity of 0.1-10 h−1, in which a molar ratio of hydrogen to carboxylic acid derivative ranges from 2 to 10. The desired material can be produced in higher optical purity and at higher yield by the current process which is relatively simpler and environmentally safer than conventional processes. Additionally, increased production efficiency leads to production of the desired material on a large scale.
Abstract:
A catalyst for the disproportionation/transalkylation of various hydrocarbons consists of a carrier and a metal component supported on the carrier. The carrier comprises 10 to 80 wt % of mordenite and/or beta type zeolite with a mole ratio of silica/alumina ranging from 10 to 200; 0 to 70 wt % of ZSM-5 type zeolite with a mole ratio of silica/alumina ranging from 30 to 500; and 5 to 90 wt % of at least one inorganic binder selected from the group consisting of gamma-alumina, silica, silica alumina, bentonite, kaolin, clinoptilolite, and montmorillonite. The metal component comprises platinum and either tin or lead. The catalyst enables mixed xylenes to be produced at remarkably high yields from benzene, toluene and C9 or higher aromatic compounds through disproportionation/transalkylation with a great reduction in aromatic loss. In addition, the catalyst can maintain its catalytic activity for a long period of time without deactivation.
Abstract:
A multi-stage door opening device. This device reliably retains the door as it was opened at a desired opening angle and generates no operational noise in opening and closing motions of the door and lengthens the using life. An arm is hinged to a car body and comprises a steel core totally coated with a high strength engineering plastic material. This arm is partially thinned in order to provide a plurality of locking portions. A hinge pin hole of the arm has a synthetic resin bushing placed beside the steel core. A stopper is engaged with a notched fixing portion of the arm for limiting a full door opening position. A locking unit is slidably penetrated by the arm and locked to one of the locking portions of the arm. A locking body of the locking unit receives a pair of roller units slidably contacting with the arm. Each roller unit comprises a roller carrier, a locking roller seated on the roller carrier and an elastic material placed on the back of the roller carrier for biasing the roller carrier and the roller toward the arm. The stopper comprises a shock absorber, having a plurality of shock absorbing projections, and a fixture having compression projections on its opposed sides.
