Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and apparatus for equalizing longitudinal variations in the running of a web under tension, wherein the web is passed over a support therefor which is at least partially oscillatable in accordance with the longitudinal variations of the web and the oscillatable portions of which are of such low inertia that they oscillate in phase with the oscillating web, and the non-oscillating portions of the web are supported.
Abstract:
A dry semi-permeable cellulose acetate membrane is processed from a wet cellulose acetate membrane having an active separating layer and a porous supporting layer. In the process, the wet membrane is immersed in an aqueous solution containing Two to 20 per cent by weight of an organic carboxylic acid having one to three carbon atoms, and 20 TO 40 PER CENT BY WEIGHT OF A POLYHYDRIC ALCOHOL HAVING TWO OR THREE CARBON ATOMS, AND DRIED AT A TEMPERATURE IN THE RANGE OF ABOUT 25* TO 100* C.
Abstract:
A diazo-type developing process, for light sensitive imaging material comprising a diazonium compound, employs a developer solution including an azo coupler compound and sodium sulfite. Contacting the exposed diazo-type material with the solution converts the image-wise disposed light-sensitive diagzonium compound to a diazo sulfonate, and subsequent heating effects development of an azo dye image while drying the sheet. The developer solution is resistant to oxidation and exhibits an extended useful life.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a tray-like pallet made of stiff plastic material and suitable for use in the setting up of a stack of identical containers each having a top with an outline capable of providing support and different in area from the outline of the bottom thereof, the said pallet having on one face a plurality of non-interconnected projection means between a number of which the base of each container of a series of containers forming a single tier of the stack can be sufficiently confined to produce a stable stack, and having on the other face a plurality of projection means between a number of which the top of each container of a series of containers forming a lower tier of the stack also can be sufficiently confined to produce a stable stack, the pallet being in addition so formed that a plurality thereof are stackable when not in use.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an electrophotographic microfilm reenlargement apparatus comprising, for optical projection of a negative, an optical system including a plurality of lens means individually insertable into a projection beam and so selected that, with an at least approximately constant projection path, the negative can be projected, at a different enlargement factor for each lens, onto a fixed image plane, and pre-selectable drive means for moving optical elements of the optical system into positions corresponding to each available enlargement factor.
Abstract:
THIS OINVENTION RELATES TO A PHOTOPOLYMERIZABLE COPYING COMPOSITION COMPRISING AT LEAST ONE BINDER, AT LEAST ONE PHOTOINITIATOR, AND AT LEAST ONE POLYMERIZABLE UNSATURATED ESTER HAVING THE FORMULA

Abstract:
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF A SEMIERMEABLE MEMBRANE BY POURING A LAYER OF A SOLUTION OF A PLASTIC ONTO A SUPPORT, EVAPORATING A PORTION OF THE SOLVENT FROM THE LAYER WHEREBY THE LAYERS IS PROVIDED WITH A SURFACE LAYER POOR IN SOLVENT, AND REMOVING THE REMAINING SOLVENT FROM THE LAYER BY MEANS OF A LIQUID WHICH IS MISCIBLE WITH THE SOLVENT BUT DOES NOT DISSOLVE THE PLASTIC, THE IMPROVEMENT COMPRISNG EMPLOYING AS THE PLASTIC AT LEAST ONE POLYAMIDE WHICH IS A POLYMERIZED B-LACTAM UNSUBSTITUTED AT THE NITROGEN ATOM.
Abstract:
THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO ESTERS OF B-SUBSTITUTED A-CYANACRYLIC ACIDS OBTAINED BY THE CONVERSION OF POLYHYDRIC ALCOHOLS, FOR EXAMPLE POLYVINYL ALCOHOLS, WITH B-SUBSTITUTE A-CYANACRYLIC ACID CHLORIDES, FOR EXAMPLE BENZYLIDENE-A-CYANACETIC ACID CHLORIDE, WITH THE EXCLUSION OF SHORT WAVE-LENGTH LIGHT, WHICH ESTER ARE CROSSLINKABLE ON EXPOSURE TO RADIATION. THE ESTERS ARE USED FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF PHOTOCROSSLINKABLE LAYER LAYERS, COATINGS AND SHAPED ARTICLES.
Abstract:
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A PRESENSITIZED PRINTING PLATE COMPRISING A BASE MATERIAL HAVING A COATED THEREON COMPRISING A SOLVENT-SOLUBLE, ACID-CURABLE AMINE-FORMALDEHYDRE RESIN AND A LIGHT-SENSITIVE ORGANIC HALOGEN COMPOUND IN WHICH CHLORINE, BROMINE, OR IODINE IS ATTACHED TO CARBON.
Abstract:
THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A FLEXIBLE, GAS-PERMEABLE, MULTILAYER SHEET MATERIAL, AND TO THE MATERIAL SO PRODUCED, WHICH PROCESS COMPRISES APPLYING A LIQUID LAYER OF A SOLUTION CONTAINING UP TO 28 PERCENT BY WEIGHT OF POLYURETHANE IN AN ORGANIC SOLVENT MISCIBLE WITH WATER TO ONE SURFACE OF A FIBROUS SHEET MATERIAL, APPLYING A LIQUID PRECIPITATING AGENT TO THE LAYER AT A TEMPERATURE NOT IN EXCESS OF 5*C., WASHING THE RESULTING COAGULATED POLYMER LAYER, DRYING AND COOLING THE POLYMER LAYER, AND GRINDING THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE POLYMER LAYER.
