    Abstract: A cap is configured to provide antimicrobial protection to a female luer port of an intravenous device. The cap distributes an antimicrobial solution within the intraluminal surfaces of the port when the cap is connected to the port. A cap may also be designed to distribute an antimicrobial solution around the exterior surfaces of the port. Once connected to a port, the cap can form a seal that minimizes the evaporation of the antimicrobial solution from within the lumen of a port. The cap can therefore provide antimicrobial protection against another device that is connected to the port once the cap is removed.

    Abstract: Scaffolded chromophores for nucleic acid detection and systems, methods, and uses thereof are provided. Certain embodiments are directed to nucleic acid probes that include a nucleic acid that is complementary to a target sequence. The probe further includes a dye structure linked to a first end of the nucleic acid and includes a non-conjugated polymeric backbone with one or more donor fluorophores linked to the polymeric backbone and one or more acceptor fluorophores linked to the polymeric backbone, where the donor and acceptor fluorophores are in energy transfer relationship. Such probes can further include a quencher attached to a second end of the nucleic acid, where the quencher and one or more acceptor fluorophores are in an energy transfer relationship. Additional embodiments include a second nucleic acid probe including a second nucleic acid that is complementary to a different target sequence.

    Abstract: Water-soluble fluorescent polymeric dyes and polymeric tandem dyes are provided. The polymeric dyes include a water solvated light harvesting multi-chromophore having a conjugated segment of aryl and/or heteroaryl co-monomers. The molar ratio of the co-monomers can be adjusted to provide beneficial technical properties, such as increased water solubility and improved absorption and emission spectra. For instance, the conjugated segment can have a first co-monomer substituted with a water-soluble group (WSG) and a second co-monomer, wherein the first co-monomer is in an amount that is equal or greater than the amount of the second co-monomer. multi-chromophore. The polymeric tandem dyes further include a signaling chromophore covalently linked to the multi-chromophore in energy-receiving proximity therewith. Also provided are aggregation-resistant labelled specific binding members that include the subject water-soluble polymeric dyes.     Abstract: A needleless access connector may include a body, which may include a proximal end configured to couple to an instrument delivery device and a distal end configured to couple to a peripheral intravenous catheter assembly. The needleless access connector may also include an accordion valve disposed within the body between the proximal end and the distal end. The accordion valve may include an accordion portion. In response to compression of the accordion portion and opening of the accordion valve, a straight pathway extending through the proximal end and the distal end may be exposed such that an instrument of the instrument delivery device may move distally from the proximal end to the distal end through the straight pathway without bending.

    Abstract: A catheter assembly may include a catheter adapter, a catheter, and a dressing to securely apply traction to the catheter where the catheter is disposed within a vasculature of a patient. The catheter adapter may include a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending between the proximal end and the distal end. The catheter may extend from the distal end of the catheter adapter. The dressing may include a first section adjustably coupled to a second section. The first section may be configured to secure the catheter adapter and/or the catheter to the patient. The second section may be configured to be adjustably positioned relative to the first section to apply the traction to the catheter within the vasculature.

    Abstract: A system to detect a position of a cannula may include a cannula, which may include a distal tip and an inner lumen. Also, the system may include an optical fiber, which may be disposed within the inner lumen of the cannula and may include a first end, a second end, and a U-shaped portion disposed between the first end and the second end. The U-shaped portion may be at least proximate the distal tip. Further, the system may include a light emitter, which may be coupled with the first end of the optical fiber, and a light receiver, which may be coupled with the second end of the optical fiber. Moreover, the system may include an electronic processor. The electronic processor may be coupled with the light receiver and configured to detect a decrease in an intensity of light received at the light receiver.
