    Abstract: A shower caddy with a knock down or telescoping frame is described. For shipment, on retailer shelves and while on display, the shower caddy can be maintained in a closed configuration. In this configuration, the total volume required for each unit is significantly less than when the frame is in an extended or open configuration, such as when configured for use. This leads to lower shipping costs because the volume required by plural units is reduced, lower storage costs because more units may be stored by a distributor or retailer as compared to a unitary item, and greater convenience to a consumer since the item is more easily transported to the home and may be more easily stored when not in use.

    Abstract: A trash bin having parts optimized for partial or full automated assembly. Components are fabricated of materials that are easily manipulated by factory automation equipment as well as those that may be selectively deformed during the assembly or installation process. Elastic or deformable characteristics also facilitate the retention of assembled or installed parts. A barbed element deforms during installation into a received aperture, then returns to a relaxed state in which one or more barbs inhibit the dislocation of the element from the aperture. A post having an aperture for receiving an axle therein is formed of resilient materials such that the post flexes outward under the urging of the axle until the axle is aligned with the aperture, at which point the post resumes a neutral position with the axle engaged in the aperture. Interfaces between components are selected in order to simplify the mechanical mating of components.

    Abstract: A system for enabling the efficient evacuation of air within a food container. A bellows-enabled lid fits into a respective container in an air-tight relationship. A bellows mechanism having plural resilient members and dual one-way valves provides efficient manual operation and resulting air evacuation from the container interior. A lid-mounted release valve with associated resilient member enables efficient release of vacuum conditions within the container. Plural ornamental configurations of the container with associated bellows-enabled lid are illustrated.

    Abstract: A storage tote system includes a body having a peripheral upper edge and hinged latches located at either end the peripheral upper edge. Each hinged latch includes lateral arms having pivot pins. The lateral arms are connected to an upper flange. The upper flange has an engagement tab extending from its lower surface. The storage tote system also includes a lid with an upper surface having complimentary recessed features on opposite ends, and a peripheral, downwardly facing groove.Each hinged latch is configured to be rotated about their pivot pins so that the upper flange is rotated onto the complimentary recessed feature. An aperture formed within the recessed feature of the lid's upper surface receives the engagement tab to securing the lid onto the body. Each hinged latch can also be rotated outwardly, away from the lid in order to disengage the engagement tab without deforming the lid.
