Abstract: A first apparatus may send, to a base station in a first carrier frequency, a request associated with determination of a first beam used for communication between the base station and the UE. The first apparatus may communicate with the base station in a second carrier frequency based on the request associated with the determination of the first beam, the first carrier frequency being different from the second carrier frequency. A second apparatus may receive, from a base station in a first carrier frequency, a message associated with determination of a first beam used for communication between the base station and the UE. The second apparatus may communicate with the base station in a second carrier frequency based on the message associated with the determination of the first beam, the first carrier frequency being different from the second carrier frequency.

Abstract: In wireless communication systems that support 5G or NR protocols, subframes used for communication may have different numerology options. Numerology options may refer to the characteristics of the subframe such as a tone spacing within each symbol of the subframe, a symbol duration for each symbol of the subframe, a number of symbols in the subframe, etc. A subframe may include a control channel (e.g., the PDCCH) and a data channel (e.g., the PDSCH). In an aspect, the control channel and the data channel within the subframe may have different numerologies. As such, a need exists to signal the numerology of the subframe to users and to determine whether and how to multiplex the control channel and the data channel into the subframe.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for location encoding for secondary synchronization signals (SSS) to convey additional information, such as a current symbol number. According to aspects, a method is provided herein for wireless communications that may be performed, for example, by a base station (BS). The method generally includes selecting frequency resources to use for transmitting synchronization signals in a symbol of a frame, wherein the frequency resources are selected based on a mapping of frequency resources to a location of the symbol within the frame; and transmitting synchronization signals to at least one user equipment (UE) according to the mapping. As a result, the UE may receive synchronization signals, determine a location of the current symbol in a frame based on the mapping, and synchronize to the BS based on the determined location of the current symbol. Abstract: DM-RS symbols may be inserted in the beginning of a subframe, or in two parts of the subframe. In one aspect, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus for dynamically conveying DM-RS information are provided. The apparatus may be a base station. The apparatus may determine the number of DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols. The apparatus may transmit the number of the DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within the subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols to a UE. In another aspect, a UE may receive the number of DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols from a base station. The UE may decode the DM-RS symbols from the subframe based on the number of the DM-RS symbols and/or the locations within a subframe for transmission of the DM-RS symbols.

The first apparatus may determine that beam tracking is to be performed with the UE, including identifying a new beam for communication between the UE and the apparatus. The first apparatus may perform beam tracking with the UE based on the determination that beam tracking is to be performed. The first apparatus may communicate with the UE through a second active beam based on the beam tracking.
