Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) configured as a drone-coupled wireless device may be configured to transmit a message indicating information relating to the drone-coupled wireless device (e.g., aerial state, non-aerial state, airborne status, drone capability, quality of service (QoS) requirements of a drone service) to a base station. The message may also carry a session connectivity request, which the base station may use to determine that the UE is a drone-coupled wireless device, establish a bearer appropriate for a subscription service of the UE (e.g., as indicated by the drone capability), and apply appropriate protocols for the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which UEs may communicate with satellites and base stations or gateways in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). Due to the large distances between transmitting devices and receiving devices in a NTN, timing adjustments to account for propagation delay communications links via a satellite may include a propagation delay between a UE and a satellite, a propagation delay between a base station and a satellite, as well as a variation in the propagation delays due to movement of the satellite. In accordance with various techniques discussed herein, a UE may account for variation in propagation delay, in addition to determined propagation delay, when determining an uplink timing for uplink communications via a satellite.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods, devices, and systems for wireless communications. A wireless communications system may support unicast and broadcast communications for different radio access technologies (RATs). To support the coexistence of different RATs, a user equipment (UE) may report, to a base station, a UE capability message containing a band combination including one or more bands for a first RAT (for example, New Radio (NR)) and one or more bands for a second RAT (for example, Long Term Evolution (LTE)) and an indication of a baseband budget for the second RAT for the band combination. In some implementations, the UE may transmit a broadcast interest indicator to the base station requesting a broadcast service. The base station may configure the UE with a carrier aggregation (CA) configuration based on the UE capabilities, such as the band combination and corresponding baseband budget for the second RAT, and the interest indicator.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), may receive a configuration of a wake-up signal periodicity and perform discontinuous monitoring for a plurality of wake-up signals based at least in part on the wake-up signal periodicity. In some cases, the UE may perform a radio resource management (RRM) measurement according to an RRM measurement periodicity that corresponds to the wake-up signal periodicity. In such cases, the UE may monitor for paging messages to receive paging information, or updates to system information, during one or more wake-up signal occasions that correspond to the RRM measurement periodicity. For instance, paging information may be received while the UE is performing RRM measurements, where paging message may be monitored for based on the wake-up signal periodicity.

More specifically, the methods, systems, and devices support extending capability signaling to support higher modulation order baseband capability, such as higher order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), for example, 1024QAM. By way of example, a user equipment (UE) may transmit UE capability information to a base station (e.g., eNodeB (eNB), next-generation NodeB ((gNB)) in a connection establishment procedure. The UE capability information may include a UE category identifier and a baseband capability parameter. The baseband capability parameter may indicate a scaling factor for a first modulation order of a plurality of available modulation orders. The UE may communicate with the base station over multiple layers using corresponding modulation orders for the multiple layers.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A receiving device may receive, at a central unit of the receiving device, information from which the central unit is able to identify a hash calculated based at least in part on a data portion of a message received by a distributed unit of the receiving device. The receiving device may confirm, at the central unit and based at least in part on the hash, an integrity of the data portion of the message. Additionally or alternatively, a distributed unit of the receiving device may confirm the integrity of the data portion of the message. The receiving device may authorize, based at least in part on the integrity confirmation, one or more user plane tunnels with the distributed unit to forward the data portion of the message from the distributed unit to the central unit after processing at the distributed unit.

Abstract: Various features presented herein facilitate early data transmission (EDT) in eMTC and NB-IoT. In certain aspects, a UE (e.g., an eMTC and/or NB-IoT type device), may receive an indication in a SIB from a base station that may enable EDT by the UE. The UE may transmit a random access request based on the SIB. The UE may further receive an MCS index in an RAR, and transmit a connection request (e.g., Msg3) to the base station based on the MCS index and the indication in the SIB. Some aspects described herein relate to an improved rate matching technique. In certain aspects, a UE may be configured to transmit a connection request message to a base station based on at least one of an increased number of RVs than a number of RVs for other transmissions from the UE or rate matching performed across more than one subframe.
