Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for configuration of channel bandwidth that may be specific to a particular user equipment (UE). A UE may be configured with a channel bandwidth that is less than or equal to a channel bandwidth of the serving base station, and may also be different than a channel bandwidth of one or more other UEs that are served by the base station. The base station may signal the UE-specific channel bandwidth in UE-specific signaling, such as UE-specific radio resource control (RRC) signaling.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may receive a downlink (DL) reception indication during an active duration of a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The DL reception indication may indicate the presence of a reception opportunity following an inactivity interval, as well as the length of the inactivity interval. The wireless device may refrain from DL monitoring during the inactivity interval. In some cases, the wireless device may enter a sleep mode during the inactivity interval and wake up to receive a subsequent transmission during the reception opportunity. In some examples, the wireless device may use the inactivity interval to communicate using a different radio access technology (RAT).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communications network may set priorities for cell groups in dual connectivity. A higher priority cell group may reserve slots and indicate the reserved slots to the lower priority cell group, for example by a backhaul connection. The high priority cell group may also indicate additional, non-reserved slots, which the lower priority cell group may reserve or use for scheduling. One of the cell groups may transmit a slot format indication (SFI) to a user equipment (UE) in the dual connectivity to indicate the slot reservations. In some cases, a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) timing parameter may be based on a number of reserved slots. In some cases, power control may be varied based on whether the UE is capable of simultaneous uplink and downlink transmission.

The systems, method, apparatus, and computer-readable storage medium may cause the base station to identify an energy metric associated with a mobile device, and to configure the transmission between the base station and the mobile device based at least in part on the energy metric. The configuration of the transmission may reduce the power consumption of the mobile device for processing the transmission.

In one example, a method includes selecting between a first frequency range and a second frequency range to transmit a physical channel, the second frequency range being higher than the first frequency range, and jointly encoding at least two fields of the physical channel based at least in part on the selected frequency range. In some cases, the method includes selecting between a first frequency range and a second frequency range to transmit a physical channel. In some cases, the second frequency range is higher than the first frequency range. The method may further include adjusting a quantity of bits associated with a field of the physical channel based at least in part on the selected frequency range.

In one example, a method includes receiving signaling from a base station to activate a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configuration for transmission between the base station and the UE, and receiving a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) timing for downlink transmissions based at least in part on the SPS configuration being activated. In another example, the method includes establishing a connection with a base station using a component carrier (CC), the CC having a plurality of bandwidth parts (BWPs), receiving signaling that indicates an SPS configuration or other types of pre-configured resources associated with at least a first BWP of the plurality of BWPs and transmitting or receiving using at least the first BWP according to the SPS configuration or other types of pre-configured resources associated with at least the first BWP.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In a new radio (NR) system, a wireless device may encode control information into a codeword using a polar code. The device may prioritize certain information within the codeword due to the time criticalness of that information for processing at a receiving device. For example, information related to frequency allocation may be encoded such that the receiving device may decode the frequency allocation information early in the decoding process. The device may include partial parity checks throughout the codeword, so that the receiving device may test whether the decoded bits for the prioritized information pass a parity check, and may then send these decoded bits for processing before completing decoding of the codeword. In some cases, the device may encode the information to be transmitted using multiple evenized codewords, or using a single consolidated codeword.

Abstract: Wireless communication with a future-compatible group common downlink control channel is discussed. A common downlink control channel may include a plurality of regions that may be configured to include information describing a plurality of features, at least a subset of the features being supported by a mobile device. Configuration information associated with the common control channel may be transmitted from a base station to the mobile device. The configuration information may provide to the mobile device an indication of the plurality of features described in the common control channel and an indication of how the plurality of features are configured in the plurality of regions of the common control channel. After receiving the common control channel, the mobile device may process the regions of the control channel that include control information features supported by the mobile device and skip regions of the common control channel that include control information features not supported by the mobile device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for enhancing the power efficiency of low power internet of everything (IOE) devices or user equipments (UEs). A UE or IOE having a low power companion receiver maintains its full power receiver in a sleep state until it receives a wake up indicator from a base station. In response to the wake up signal, the UE or IOE powers up its full power receiver and receives data from the base station. The base station further schedules the wake up signals so as not to collide with control signals expected by UEs or IOEs without low power receivers, or those UEs and IOEs are configured to detect and react to the wake up signals.
