Abstract: Managing the coexistence of multiple different UE types and capabilities in wireless networks is disclosed. In order to handle the various transmission types and available UE capabilities, base stations may coordinate among each other over backhaul communications to schedule identifiable groups of UEs being served for specific sets of resources. The resources may be assigned, and UEs grouped, according to particular transmission types, UE capabilities, or a combination of both. Additional aspects may also provide for signaling to the UE that informs the UE of expected transmission types for given resources. The combined aspects facilitate reducing complexity of UE signal processing for data interference cancellation, signal decoding, and the like.

Abstract: Estimation of timing errors is disclosed that uses user equipment reference signals (UERSs). A UE models each channel in a user equipment reference signal (UERS) as a channel on an adjacent UERS tone multiplied by a phase ramping term. This phase ramping term is determined using an estimator on the modeled channels. The UE then determines the equivalent timing error by mapping the phase ramping terms into the estimated timing errors in the time domain. In coordinated multipoint (CoMP) systems, the UERS-based timing error may be used to identify an aligned common reference signal (CRS) associated with the network entity transmitting the data. With this determination, the UE may estimate a CRS-based timing error and either substitute the CRS-based timing error for the UERS-based timing error or calculate a further average timing error based on both the CRS-based and UERS-based timing errors.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to the timing arrangements and the transmission gap configurations in 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedures to improve system latency and reliability of a RACH HARQ process are provided. The UE transmits a first message including a random access preamble and a payload, and then monitors for a second message in response to the first message during a random access response (RAR) window. In response to determining that no second message is received by the UE from the BS or a back off indicator is received within the RAR window, the UE re-transmits the preamble and payload of the first message after the RAR window lapses. In response to determining if the second message received within the RAR window carries a FallbackRAR or SuccessRAR, the UE then determines to re-transmit the payload of the first message based on the FallbackRAR, or to transmit an acknowledgement message based on the SuccessRAR.

Abstract: A method for wireless communication by a UE includes receiving, from a base station, DCI indicating both a semi-persistent schedule for PDSCH occasions within a transmission window and a first quantity of a first group of empty PDSCH occasions. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a payload for inclusion in an uplink transmission. The UE may organize the payload into a code block group (CBG) that includes one or more code blocks (CB). The UE may map each CB of the CBG to a corresponding uplink shared channel resource unit (e.g., a physical uplink shared channel resource unit) of an uplink transmission occasion of the first UE. The uplink transmission occasion may also be shared with one or more additional UEs such that the CBG of the first UE is multiplexed with additional CBGs from the additional UEs. The UE may transmit, to a base station, the uplink transmission including each uplink shared channel resource unit on which the CBG is organized.
