Abstract: A base station may transmit a beam refinement reference signal prior to a paging physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasion to improve reception of a paging downlink control information (DCI). A user equipment (UE) may receive at least one transmission indicating the beam refinement reference signal transmitted prior to the PDCCH monitoring occasion. The UE may receive the beam refinement reference signal prior to the paging PDCCH monitoring occasion based on the at least one transmission. The UE may receive a downlink control information on the paging PDCCH monitoring occasion based on the beam refinement reference signal.

Abstract: A method of wireless communication may include a UE and a base station. The base station may transmit at least one BFD-RS to the UE and the UE may receive at least one BFD-RS from a base station. The UE may transmit an aperiodic BFI report to the base station prior to a beam failure detection. The base station may determine that an early beam failure occurred and initiate a beam failure recovery in response to receiving the aperiodic BFI report from the UE.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine whether a flag is enabled or is disabled, the flag indicating whether channel state information (CSI) associated with a secondary discontinuous reception (DRX) group is permitted to be transmitted outside of an active time associated with a primary DRX group. The UE may selectively transmit the CSI associated with the secondary DRX group in an uplink communication associated with the primary DRX group based at least in part on whether the flag is enabled or is disabled. Abstract: A UE may receive a BFD-RS and calculate, based on the BFD-RS, one or more of a value of an RSSI or at least one of a value of an SNR or a value of an RSRP, such that the UE may report a BFI based on the calculated values. The UE may initiate at least one of a total BFI timer or a consecutive BFI timer when a first BFI of a plurality of BFIs is stored, and increment at least one of a total BFI counter or a consecutive BFI counter when each of the plurality of BFIs is stored. A BFD procedure may be performed if at least one of the total BFI counter is greater than or equal to a maximum total count or the consecutive BFI counter is greater than or equal to a maximum consecutive count prior to an expiration of respective BFI timers.

Abstract: A user equipment may be configured to perform beam failure detection enhancement. In some aspects, the user equipment may receive a beam failure detection reference signal (BFD-RS) from a base station, detect an occurrence of an interference event based on a first measurement of the BFD-RS or a channel event based on a second measurement of the BFD-RS, and update count information based on a detection function and the occurrence. Further, the user equipment may determine that at least one of a first timer for interference events or a second timer for channel events is active, and determine whether to perform a beam failure recovery process based on comparing a total count of the count information to a predefined threshold value.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may use the techniques described herein to efficiently detect beam failure. In one aspect, the UE may autonomously select one or more criteria for detecting beam failure. The UE may then perform measurements on beam failure detection reference signals received from the base station and use the selected one or more criteria to detect beam failure. Because the UE may select the one or more criteria without signaling from the base station, control overhead between the UE and the base station may be reduced.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Wireless communications systems may support beam measurements triggered by a wake-up signal (WUS) and that triggers an active duration of a receiving user equipment (UE). The WUS may trigger the receiving UE to perform a beam sweeping procedure during a beam measurement occasion that immediately preceding the active duration, or the UE may perform the beam sweeping procedure in the WUS resource itself. A UE may perform beam measurement procedures during active durations of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle, or outside of active durations of the DRX cycle. A receiving UE may be configured with a timing for performing a beam measurement procedure based on one or more offset values. The timing offset values may indicate a timing during active durations or prior to active durations.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support inclusion of layer 1 (L1) or layer 2 (L2) cell mobility information within a layer 3 (L3) handover command. A base station may transmit, to the UE, signaling indicating for the UE to perform a measurement on a first set of cells. The UE may perform the measurement on the first set of cells and may transmit, to the base station, an indication associated with the measurement on the first set of cells. In response to the indication, the base station may transmit, to the UE, an L3 handover command, where the L3 handover command may include L1 or L2 cell mobility information, such as an indication of a second set of cells that the UE is to use for L1 or L2 cell mobility after completing the L3 handover command.
