    Abstract: Increased symbol length of uplink pilot time slots (UpPTS) in special subframes is disclosed in which a configuration of a first special subframe may be independent from configuration of a second special subframe in the same frame, such that the first UpPTS of the first special subframe is longer than the second UpPTS of the second special subframe. The second UpPTS of the second special subframe may also be longer than legacy UpPTS length in select configurations. A serving base station may select the special subframe configurations in order to balance sounding reference signal (SRS) capacity for compatible user equipments (UEs) and downlink throughput for legacy UEs. The selected special subframe configurations may be transmitted by the serving base stations. In additional aspects, compatible UEs may be configured with at least two separate SRS power control parameters for use in the additional and legacy UpPTS symbols.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. To encode a vector of bits using a polar code, an encoder may allocate information bits of the vector to polarized bit-channels associated with a channel (e.g., a set of unpolarized bit-channels) used for a transmission. In some cases, the polarized bit-channels may be partitioned into groups associated with different values of some associated reliability metric (s). The information bits may be allocated to the polarized bit-channels based on the reliability metrics of the different polarized bit-channels and the overall capacity of a transmission. That is, the bit locations of a transmission may depend on the reliability metrics of different polarized bit-channels and the overall capacity of the transmission. To facilitate puncturing, the overall capacity of the transmission may be adjusted and the unpolarized bit-channels may be partitioned into polarized bit-channels based on the adjusted capacity.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for providing periodic CSI reports and/or aperiodic CSI reports to provide CSI for both anchor and non-anchor TDD subframes in eIMTA. Periodic CSI reports may be provided based on a reference configuration, and aperiodic CSI reports may be provided based on a time of reception of a CSI request and a reference configuration. A UE may determine to report anchor or non-anchor CSI through explicit or implicit signaling. Aperiodic CSI may be used for transmission of anchor subframe CSI reports and periodic CSI may be used for transmission of non-anchor subframe CSI reports, or aperiodic CSI may be used for transmission of non-anchor subframe CSI reports and periodic CSI may be used for transmission of anchor subframe CSI reports. A determination of the reference subframe for aperiodic CSI estimation may be based on a time of receipt of an aperiodic CSI request.

    Abstract: Dynamic reconfiguration of CSI-RS resources for CSI reporting is described for full dimension multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) systems. While a larger number of channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) resources with independent resource configuration are configured and associated with a CSI process, only a subset of resources that are activated by additional signaling are used for CSI measurement and reporting. The set of activated CSI-RS resources may include only a single CSI-RS resource. Both periodic and aperiodic CSI reporting may then be based on the same set of the activated CSI-RS resources. Medium access control (MAC) control elements may be used to provide activation/deactivation of the CSI-RS resources. Additionally, CSI reporting may be based on both the activated CSI-RS resources and the associated number of antenna ports.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and-devices are described for interference mitigation in a time-division duplex(TDD)wireless communication system. First and second subframe types may be identified for TDD subframes to be transmitted using the system. Different power control parameters associated with each subframe type may be identified based on transmission directions in neighboring cells for the particular subframes. One or more TDD subframes to be transmitted may be identified as a first or second subframe type, and power control may be applied to the transmitted subframes according the power control parameter associated with the subframe type. The identification of subframes and power control parameters to be applied to each type of subframe may be transmitted, for example, to a user equipment(UE). The information may be transmitted to a UE, for example, via radio resource control(RRC)signaling or via a physical layer control channel.

    Abstract: Enhancement of long term evolution (LTE) time division duplex (TDD) carrier aggregation for half duplex user equipments (UEs) is discussed. In one aspect of enhanced TDD carrier aggregation, the UE monitoring for a control signal indicating subframe configuration for each TDD cell of an aggregated set of TDD cells in the same band. The UE may determine the downlink subframes and receive downlink transmissions on such subframes based on the control signal. In another aspect, the UE compares the number of scheduled uplink and downlink subframes between the TDD cells in the same band to determine the downlink error-control messaging timing for each cell.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a user equipment (UE) to efficiently provide feedback regarding preferred beams to a base station (BS) that transmits with different beams from different elevations. The techniques generally involve the BS transmitting first reference signals transmitted, using a plurality of elevation beams. The UE selects at least one preferred elevation beam based on the first reference signals and feeds this back to the BS. The BS transmits second reference signals using the preferred elevation beam and a plurality of azimuthal ports. The UE provides a second stage channel feedback to the base station, based on the second reference signals.
