Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A UE may establish a wireless communication link with a base station in accordance with a radio access technology (RAT), and an internet connection with the base station. The UE may identify a lack of support by a network that includes the base station for a type of voice calls associated with the RAT. The UE may transmit a discovery query for a gateway to a core network, and the UE may establish a connection with the gateway via the internet connection. The UE may initiate a voice call via a call path from the UE to the core network, where the call path may include the wireless communications link with the base station in accordance with the RAT and also may include the internet connection with the gateway.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE including an application processor and a modem to disable measurements of reference signals from 5G base stations which are inapplicable to EN-DC. The UE may receive a reference signal from a base station. The UE may identify a frequency range. The UE may provide, using the application processor, an indication to the modem. The UE may determine whether to measure the reference signal using the modem based on the indication provided to the modem from the application processor and whether the reference signal is within the identified frequency range and further based on whether the base station is standalone or non-standalone. The UE may refrain from measuring the reference signal in response to the determination. As a result, inter-RAT handovers from LTE base stations to 5G base stations are prevented, UE power consumption is thereby saved, and support for EN-DC is maintained.

The method also includes transmitting, to the application client, an indication of which edge enabler layer services are authorized for the application client. The method further includes transmitting a confirmation that the EEC will handle authorized edge enabler layer services on behalf of the application client. The method still further includes executing one or more procedures related to the authorized edge enabler layer services on behalf of the application client. The procedure(s) includes edge enabler layer procedures, application procedures, and/or high level operating system (HILOS) procedures.
