Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a transmitting device may send transmissions using a first numerology for a first type of user equipment (UE). The transmitting device may partition a stream of modulated data symbol tones into one or more contiguous subsets of modulated data symbol tones that result in a roughly frequency-flat channel for a second type of UE. The transmitting device may then perform precoding on individual subsets of the one or more contiguous subsets of modulated data symbol tones, and may insert a frequency-domain cyclic prefix, cyclic postfix, or guard interval after each precoded subset. Thus, the first type of UE may communicate using the first numerology and the second type of UE may communicate using the first numerology but with the frequency-domain cyclic prefixes to address doppler spread experienced by the second type of UE.

Abstract: In some aspects, a method for a user equipment (UE) is provided. In some examples, the UE determines a signal quality for communicating with a node. The UE determines a coverage level based on the signal quality, wherein the coverage level indicates resources to be used for communicating with the node. The UE determines a maximum repetition level and a repetition value, based on the coverage level, for communicating with the node. The UE generates a multibit repetition range identifier that indicates the repetition value based on the maximum repetition level. The UE transmits the multibit repetition range identifier.

The UE may transmit, while in idle mode, a first uplink transmission associated with a transport block on the allocated resources and according to one or more of the parameters, and monitor for a response to the first uplink transmission.

A user equipment (UE) may receive a connection release message, the connection release message including a resource indicator indicating that a set of resources are to be used for grant-free uplink transmissions by the UE while operating in a disconnected state. The UE may transition from a connected state to a disconnected state based at least in part on the connection release message. The UE may perform, while operating in the disconnected state, the grant-free uplink transmissions using the set of resources.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit an autonomous uplink (AUL) transmission to a base station using a configured resource set, the AUL transmission comprising reference signals and data signals. The UE may determine whether a response signal was received from the base station in response to the AUL transmission. The UE may determine whether the response signal indicates that the base station received the reference signals, or the reference signals and the data signals. The UE may select an uplink transmission scheme to use for subsequent transmissions to the base station, the selected uplink transmission scheme based at least in part on the determination of whether the response signal was received from the base station and whether the response signal indicates that the base station received the reference signals or the reference signals and the data signals.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. These wireless communications may include channel estimation procedures between communicating devices such as a base station and user equipment (UE). For example, the UE may receive, from the base station, a resource grant triggering a given reference signal configuration. Based at least in part on the type of reference signal configuration, the UE (e.g., and the base station) may determine a timing offset relative to the resource grant. The UE may transmit (and the base station may receive) the reference signal based at least in part on the timing offset. In some cases, the reference signal may be transmitted in a transmission opportunity of a set of transmission opportunities, where the set of transmission opportunities is determined based at least in part on the reference signal configuration.

Generally, a user equipment (UE) may support both unicast and multicast downlink signaling, such as on a single component carrier (CC). A UE may receive a unicast message over a first CC during a transmission time interval (TTI) using a first set of processing resources. The UE may simultaneously receive a multicast message over the first CC during the same TTI using a second set of processing resources. The first and second sets of processing resources may be associated with first and second hybrid automatic repeat request (HARM) soft buffers, first and second CCs, or first and second transmit/receive points (TRPs).
