    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a transmitting device may send transmissions using a first numerology for a first type of user equipment (UE). The transmitting device may partition a stream of modulated data symbol tones into one or more contiguous subsets of modulated data symbol tones that result in a roughly frequency-flat channel for a second type of UE. The transmitting device may then perform precoding on individual subsets of the one or more contiguous subsets of modulated data symbol tones, and may insert a frequency-domain cyclic prefix, cyclic postfix, or guard interval after each precoded subset. Thus, the first type of UE may communicate using the first numerology and the second type of UE may communicate using the first numerology but with the frequency-domain cyclic prefixes to address doppler spread experienced by the second type of UE.

Generally, the described techniques provide for enhancement of communication features including frequency hopping, an uplink control channel, coverage enhancement, timing advance, uplink power control, reconfiguration, a downlink control channel, a downlink data channel, retransmissions, or subcarrier spacing for a UE in idle mode. The UE may receive an uplink resource configuration for uplink communications in idle mode, the uplink resource configuration comprising an indicator associated with allocated resources for the uplink communications in idle mode and a set of parameters. The UE may transmit, while in idle mode, a first uplink transmission associated with a transport block on the allocated resources and according to one or more of the parameters, and monitor for a response to the first uplink transmission.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit an autonomous uplink (AUL) transmission to a base station using a configured resource set, the AUL transmission comprising reference signals and data signals. The UE may determine whether a response signal was received from the base station in response to the AUL transmission. The UE may determine whether the response signal indicates that the base station received the reference signals, or the reference signals and the data signals. The UE may select an uplink transmission scheme to use for subsequent transmissions to the base station, the selected uplink transmission scheme based at least in part on the determination of whether the response signal was received from the base station and whether the response signal indicates that the base station received the reference signals or the reference signals and the data signals.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. These wireless communications may include channel estimation procedures between communicating devices such as a base station and user equipment (UE). For example, the UE may receive, from the base station, a resource grant triggering a given reference signal configuration. Based at least in part on the type of reference signal configuration, the UE (e.g., and the base station) may determine a timing offset relative to the resource grant. The UE may transmit (and the base station may receive) the reference signal based at least in part on the timing offset. In some cases, the reference signal may be transmitted in a transmission opportunity of a set of transmission opportunities, where the set of transmission opportunities is determined based at least in part on the reference signal configuration.

    Abstract: A base station multicasts a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission and transmits downlink control associated with the PDSCH, wherein the downlink control comprises different parameters for uplink transmissions to multiple user equipments (UEs). A UE receives the associated the PDSCH, where the downlink control comprises different parameters for uplink transmissions to multiple UEs including an uplink transmission parameter for the UE. The UE receives the multicast PDSCH and transmits the uplink transmission based on the uplink transmission parameter for the UE and the multicast PDSCH.
