Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support use of a connected mode RS in an unconnected mode according to one or more aspects. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes operating, by a user equipment (UE), in an unconnected mode. The method also includes determining, by the UE, reference signal (RS) configuration settings for the unconnected mode. The method includes monitoring, by the UE, for a reference signal based on the RS configuration settings. The method further includes receiving, by the UE, a RS transmission in the unconnected mode based on the RS configuration settings. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In one example, a method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes identifying that the UE is in carrier aggregation communication with a first cell having a first sub-carrier spacing and a second cell having a second, different sub-carrier spacing. The method may further include monitoring one or more UE-specific search spaces of the first cell for first control information scheduling a first data communication on the first cell and one or more UE-specific search spaces of the first cell or the second cell for second control information scheduling a second data communication on the first cell, and resolving a scheduling order of the first control information scheduling the first data communication and the second control information scheduling the second data communication based at least in part on the monitoring and on a scheduling condition.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method may include receiving at a user equipment (UE) over an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band an indication of a time window associated with a transmission of a synchronization signal, and monitoring the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the time window to receive a synchronization signal from a base station. A second method may include transmitting an indication of a time window associated with a transmission of a synchronization signal; performing a plurality of clear channel assessments (CCAs) on an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band during the time window; and transmitting the synchronization signal over the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band at a transmission time during the time window. The transmission time may be based at least in part on a result of at least one of the CCAs.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. An orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) configuration of an uplink channel is identified for communications in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. An OFDMA waveform is generated based on the identified OFDMA configuration. The OFDMA waveform is communicated in a signal in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. A virtual cell identifier of a first base station may be associated with transmissions between the first base station and a first user equipment (UE). A set of common resource blocks may be identified for transmission of a demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) between the first base station and the first UE. A configuration of an uplink channel may be dynamically selected for uplink communications in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. A waveform may be generated based on the selected configuration. The waveform may be communicated in a signal in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band.

Abstract: Various techniques for narrowband communications in a wireless communications network are provided. Narrowband communications may be transmitted using a single resource block (RB) of a number of RBs used for wideband communications. In order to provide for efficient device discovery and synchronization using narrowband communications, a synchronization signal, such as a primary synchronization signal (PSS) or secondary synchronization signal (SSS), may be transmitted within the single resource block. The synchronization signal may be transmitted, for example, using multiple orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols within the single RB. A common reference signal (CRS) may also be present in the single resource block, which may puncture the synchronization signal, in some examples. In other examples, the synchronization signal may be mapped to non-CRS symbols of the single resource block.

Abstract: In an aspect, a network entity may receive download control information (DCI) indicating a first scrambling identification value, a second scrambling identification value, and a scrambling selection value, wherein the scrambling selection value has either a first scrambling selection value or a second scrambling selection value. The network entity may configure a first demodulation reference signal (DMRS) symbol sequence based on a first initial seed value, a second DMRS symbol sequence based on a second initial seed value, and a third DMRS symbol sequence based on a third initial seed value. The network entity may be configured, based on the scrambling selection value, to transmit or receive DMRS on a group of code division multiplexed (CDM) antenna ports based on either the first DMRS symbol sequence, the second DMRS symbol sequence, or the third DMRS symbol sequence.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, capability signaling indicating one or more phase coherency capabilities of the UE for maintaining phase coherence across multiple uplink messages within a time interval, wherein each phase coherency capability is based on one or more channel usage characteristics associated with the time interval. The UE may receive, from the base station, a downlink message scheduling a set of uplink messages from the UE to the base station within the time interval. The UE may transmit the set of uplink messages within the time interval based on the downlink message and in accordance with at least one of the one or more phase coherency capabilities.
