Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for serving cell management of a user equipment (UE) are presented. Particularly, methods and apparatuses are presented for suppressing a serving cell change based on a speed of the UE. For instance, an example method is presented for serving cell management that may include determining that a serving cell change condition exists for an initiation of a serving cell change for the UE, wherein the serving cell change comprises changing a serving cell of the UE from a macro cell to a low power cell. In addition, the example method may include obtaining a speed of the UE and suppressing the initiation of the serving cell change based on the speed of the UE.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for transitioning between short DRX and long DRX cycles based on service type to improve performance (e.g., reduce delay) while limiting power consumption. In one example, the UE switches to a long DRX cycle after a DRX Short Cycle Timer, or drxShortCycleTimer, expires. The UE may also switch to a long DRX if the UE receives long DRX MAC control element (CE) from a gNB. In another example, a gNB may configure a radio bearer from a set of radio bearers (data radio bearer (DRB) and/or signal radio bearer (SRB)), denoted by S, to trigger the UE to enter a short DRX cycle.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus selects a serving cell for connection to a network. The apparatus performs a search for a frequency band on a neighbor cell for use in device-to-device communications. The apparatus performs the device-to-device communications using pre-configured resources associated with the frequency band when the search for the frequency band on the neighbor cell fails. The apparatus performs the device-to-device communications using resources associated with the frequency band of the neighbor cell when the search for the frequency band on the neighbor cell is successful.

The method includes determining one or more per-flow MTU sizes, different than the default MTU size, to be used for communications in the PDN. Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for wireless communication are provided. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may obtain a gain value based on a difference between an reference signal receive power (RSRP) value of a first antenna and an RSRP value of a second antenna, where the first antenna may be located on an exterior of the UE and the second antenna may be located within an interior of the UE. Further, in some aspects, the UE may obtain an antenna gain value based at least on a random access channel (RACH) power value and a reference signal receive quality (RSRQ) offset value. Additionally, in some aspects, the UE may obtain the antenna gain value based on one of a matching entry in a memory log or a minimum of a maximum antenna gain value or an aggregation of a RACH gain value and an RSRQ offset value.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) and source base station may use data compression techniques for data packets sent between them. During a handover, the source base station may provide data compression context to a target base station, thus enabling the target base station to continue the data compression following the handover without having to reestablish the data compression context. The source base station may determine data compression capabilities of the UE or the target base station, or both, and may communicate the determined data compression capabilities to the UE or target base station. The source base station may identify at least one gap in a sequence of packets received from the UE, and communicate the existence of the gap to the target base station, which may request retransmission of packets associated with the gap.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for providing local broadcasts for group calls. A user equipment (UE) may request a group call, and either a base station or a local server dedicated to the base station may determine whether to allow the group call based at least in part on an assessed level of interest for the group call. If the group call occurs, the UE may perform one or more aspects of user plane processing for the broadcast data—such as setting Internet protocol (IP) addresses in IP packets, encryption, compression, or media formatting—and may transmit the broadcast data to the base station. The base station may then transmit the broadcast data to one or more interested UEs via one or more multicast transmissions without routing the broadcast data through other network nodes, which may reduce latency and provide other benefits.

Abstract: Enhanced techniques may be used for identifying and reporting collision-based scenarios. In one example, a wireless modem measures a number of signals received from a number of devices that are located on the same chip as the wireless modem when a physical link between the wireless modem and an accelerometer is broken, the accelerometer is inoperable, or a combination thereof. In the event of a collision event, the wireless modem may use the measured signals to determine that the collision event has occurred and may transmit an indication of the collision event. For instance, the wireless modem may use signals from an audio sensor, a motion sensor, a global navigation satellite system (GNSS), or the like.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to enhanced procedures for search, measurement, and positioning with aid of motion detection information. According to certain aspects, a method is provided for wireless communications which may be performed, for example, by a user equipment (UE). The method generally includes determining one or more parameters of the UE; dynamically adjusting a periodicity of at least one of: cell search and measurements or global positioning system (GPS) signal acquisition based, at least in part, on the one or more parameters; and performing at least one of: the cell search and measurements or GPS signal acquisition according to the adjusted periodicity. In aspects, an enhanced technique for motion state detection is provided. The method may result in power savings, for example, when the UE is stationary and can reduce the periodicity that the UE performs search, measurement and GPS signal acquisition.
