摘要: Only information selected from messages transmitted to many persons, especially an unspecified number of persons on the reception side is received by setting the frequency of reception for each call number or each type of information on the reception side and determining the frequency of reception from transmitted messages, thereby reducing the power consumption of a receiver by eliminating an unnecessary operation performed by a reception circuit, and reducing the used capacity of a message memory in the receiver by eliminating unnecessary information stored in the memory. The radio selective calling receiver includes a means for setting a reception period for each call number or type of information, wherein a reception permission mode and a reception inhibition mode are switched for each call number or type of information by determining the call number or type of information from an incoming message following a call number, a timer circuit for counting the reception period, and a CPU for changing a battery saving control method of ON/OFF-controlling power supply to a reception circuit. A reception period is set by the switching operation of the receiver or determined in accordance with a signal from an external computer. With this operation, only selected messages are received and saved, thus power supply and message memory is conserved.

摘要: A card for insertion into a personal computer including a body block and display block. A reception section in the body block receives data from the personal computer. The data is converted by a parallel to serial data converter and optically transmitted to the display block through an optical transmission circuit and an LED. In the display block, the optically transmitted data is received through a photo detector and an optical reception circuit. The received data is converted by a serial to parallel converter and displayed on an LCD through a display unit control section and a control signal generation circuit.

摘要: A plurality of medals are placed both on a fixed table and a movable table. A player supplies medals one by one on the movable table via a medal feeding rail. The movable table moves forward and backward in a reciprocating motion to drop medals placed on the fixed table into a medal outlet so as to give the medals to the player. A field table which is placed under the fixed table revolves around a tower, while containing a large number of medals accumulated therein, thereby circulating a large number of accumulated medals. Medals in the field table are automatically taken out, when the amount being in excess, by an overflow prevention device. Thus, the game machine permits the player to continue the game, free from concern about any medal overflowing from the field table.

摘要: A paging receiver receives a message data including an overhead and a body data. The paging receiver has a first memory with multiple memory slots for holding the body data from multiple message data, and a second memory for holding information about the current storage methods for memory slots of the first memory. The overhead of the message data specifies a memory slot number for storing the body data, and also specifies a method of storing the body data, which may be storage by replacement of current contents, storage by combination with current contents, etc. A controller of the paging receiver selects the storage method from the second memory if the overhead does not specify the method of storing the body data, but uses the method specified in the overhead when present. The body data of the message data is placed in the specified slot of the first memory using the method selected by the controller.

摘要: A polygonal mirror of synthetic resin of low cost and which is faithful to the desired standard mirror with respect to flatness, shape, size and other characteristics is made by improving the shape of the polygonal mirror. The mirror includes a plurality of reflection surfaces on side surfaces of a polygonal pillar and a concave fitting portion, which is made instead of a conventional through hole, in its center. The concave portion is used as a reference point for fitting the polygonal mirror over a scanner motor and a convex portion made in a scanner motor side fits into it. Instead of the concave fitting portion, a convex portion can be made in the center of the polygonal mirror with which a concave portion made in the scanner motor side fits.

摘要: Deterioration of an exhaust gas concentration sensor for an internal combustion engine is detected by integrating a difference between an output from the exhaust gas concentration sensor and a predetermined reference value which is outside a range of the output which can be assumed during normal operation of the exhaust gas concentration sensor, comparing a thus obtained integral value with a predetermined deterioration-determining value, and determining from the result of the comparision whether the exhaust gas concentration sensor is deteriorated.

摘要: The invention provides a sintered ceramic of which the principal component is TiB.sub.2 and/or ZrB.sub.2. The sintered ceramic contains a vanadium compound such as VC, VB or VN and/or a molybdenum compound such as MoC, MoSi.sub.2 or MoB such that the content of V and/or Mo is 0.5-99.5 wt % of the principal component. Furthermore, the sintered ceramic contains at least one nitride such as TiN, ZrN, TaN or CrN amounting to 1-50 wt % of the principal component and carbon amounting to 0.5-10 wt % of the principal component. The sintered ceramic is high in hardness and mechanical strength and, by virtue of including a nitride in the additives, is particularly enhanced in fracture toughness. The sintered ceramic is produced by mixing a principal material, TiB.sub.2 and/or ZrB.sub.2, with at least one vanadium or molybdenum compound, or elementary V and/or Mo, at least one nitride and carbon or a carbonizable material, compacting the resulting mixture into a shaped body and sintering the shaped body in vacuum or a nonoxidizing gas atmosphere at 1600.degree.-2200.degree. C.
