    摘要: An electrical snap-in terminal and brush housing and method of assembly are disclosed. The terminal blade member is provided with a plurality of mutually opposed resilient tongues arranged to contactively abut wall means of the brush housing to retain, in a first or blade insertion direction, the terminal blade member within the brush housing. The terminal blade member is also provided with an enlarged shoulder portion to define the position of the terminal blade member within the brush housing in a second or brush insertion direction. In order to aid in the assembly of the brush means within the brush housing, the housing includes an open end portion having the dimensions of a substantial portion of the terminal blade member so that the terminal blade member may itself be used to compressively confine the brush biasing means and, once the biasing means are sufficiently compressed, the brush housing is provided with means to receive the terminal blade member within suitably provided structure comprising a slot and notches in the brush housing so that the terminal blade member will be removably secured within the housing.

    摘要: An electrical brush is constructed by moulding an aligned array of metal coated carbon fibres into a block. The block may be several times the required length and width of a brush, in which case it is then cut into strips corresponding to the desired length of a brush. The coating is then removed for part only of the lengths of the brushes to expose the individual carbon fibres at one end but leaving them consolidated for connection to a conductor at the other end. The strips are finally cut up to form individual brushes.

    摘要: Leaf graphite is compressed to form bodies having a gross density of at least 1.5 g/cm3. The bodies are then comminuted in a cone-mill to obtain a raw graphite powder whose particles are of essentially ball-shaped configuration and which is then screened or sifted to have a particle size distribution between 50 and 400 microns. The sifted powder is admixed with a predetermined percentage by weight of powdered copper and the mixture compressed to form a brush body, which is sintered to obtain a finished metal-carbon brush.
